Halogen & LED Headlight Bulb Upgrades

Comscan, is there a specific reason that you used a separate harness & relay rather than just the "plug n play" with the oem wiring?

Just curious as it seems most just plug in & go.

Good question, I had previously installed HID's and led's both reputable plug and play kits but found neither were 100% reliable, problems ranged from one side not coming on through both going out until the next ignition cycle. Also this install made things much neater, there isn't the rats nest of connectors/cables canbus adaptors etc hanging out the back of the headlamps!

@Sierra Jon, got that BPS kit installed?

Yup! See pages 66/67! So far no issues.

It's page 66/67. There's multiple posts so I can't copy them all.

Bottom line is that the BPS perform light years better than the stock projectors (pun intended) but light dispersion is not as good as HID. The polarity needs to be reversed on the bulb side of the CANBUS. With some patience the harness and CANBUS all fit inside the housing behind the dust cover. And lastly, take the time to do trial and error on bulb orientation. It's close to 3 and 9 but if I remember correctly I kept adjusting slightly. Color says 6500k but it matches my 5500k LED fogs very well. It's been several months now though with excellent headlights, so I'm happy.

Ok, thanks my man. So, the real "issue" is light dispersion. Meaning, the LED lights don't project width wise or full coverage (dark spots) as well as HIDS's do?

Also good to hear that the 6500K you feel matches the DRL's and a 5500K look. Pictures?

The 2016 LED stock lights are fine. I would suggest that may be the direction you should consider. I had a 2014 and the lights sucked. The 2016 are good. Not super but good.

^^^ that'll cost me a lot more than upgrading to either LED or HID.

Hard to tell in the pictures... It looks great in person. The front end in general just looks "current" without the halogen bulbs/color.

That's good to know, how long have you had them on your vehicle?
