talked with a guy yesterday at bps he assured me that the g8s would work no problems with the dust caps . gave me his direct line to call if i have any issues , so i will try these and let all know how they are thx

has anyone had problems with there HID lights cutting out about 30 seconds after they cut on? mine will cut out if activated with the automatic on/off feature, truck running, but if i manually cut them on, TRUCK OFF or activate them with door unlock feature they work fine?

Yes if you didn't install Can Bus adapters.

I heard this as well. From what I understand the G8's are brighter but the G7's are more reliable. I've had mine in for 8 months now (I think) and have had no issues.

Just bought some G7 . And installed them last night . They have a nice color but not sure I like how the light gets shown . I'll post pics against my garage tomorrow . But they seem to have a lot of empty spots .and they shut off randomly while I was driving . Going to contact seller on amazon and see if maybe it's a bad set. [emoji53]

I have had the same issues with a set of G5's occasionally going out until the next ignition cycle or coming back on a short while later, despite them being plug and play I will be wiring them up using a separate harness/relay once the capacitor I have on order arrives!

That sucks you guys are having issues... Once I figured out you needed to reverse the polarity it worked fine since.

The polarity needs to be reversed on the bulb side of the CANBUS.

 

BPS customer service was great during this process. Also I talked about the collar adjustment screw being stripped but it wasn't. It was just the crappy allen key provided.

The polarity needs to be reversed on the bulb side of the CANBUS.

 

BPS customer service was great during this process. Also I talked about the collar adjustment screw being stripped but it wasn't. It was just the crappy allen key provided.

Did you reverse the polarity on just x1 lamp or both and if just on x1 which side?

Both sides are the same. Both reversed on the bulb side of the CANBUS.

Did you position the bulbs so the diodes are at the "3 & 9 like on a clock"? This seems to make a big difference.

 

I have a set of G7's but haven't installed yet.

I called bps and geat cuatomer sercice and I moved them now to 3 and 9 o'clock just hadn't had a chance to drive at night been at work will try tonight . And also will see if they shut off randomly or not .

So today I finally got the chance to install the G7's but instead pf going plug and play I used a separate relay and harness with the reverse connected morimoto capacitor as per the boys over in the HID thread and all I can say is flawless! the light output is really hard to tell from the HID's I had in previous.

 

Yes it was a little bit of extra work but imo worth it.

    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?. 
    • He is not saying that an SAE *W20 will have more viscosity than a *W40 due to MORE VII polymers. He is saying that although multiple *W40 may post in the PDS the same or similar 100 C and 150 C viscosities that the blenders choice of modifier TYPE and AMOUNT to get his chosen base to grade will not give identical real world viscosities in shear and at temperature.     • I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem.   What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. I usually set the parking brake (habit) when on flat ground for typical driving.    When backed down on the launch ramp to launch the boat and I place gear selector into Park, the parking brake activates automatically. My second nature is to set parking brake manually and noticed I was turing the parking brake off.  The parking brake appears to be setting itself automatically.   I looked all over my owner's manual and only found references to being on an incline and manually setting parking brake, or at times parking brake will be auto engaged, but nothing specific to my situation.    When is the parking brake automatically engaged?  Under what specific circumstances?  Can the auto set parameters be changed?     I like the auto set feature.  It would be nice if always engaged when shifted into Park and released when shifted out of Park (like my wifes 2025 RAV4).   Thanks!

Speed postulates that higher viscosity oils have more thickeners to artificially inflate their viscosity numbers. These thickeners lose viscosity under shear, and the result is that not all oils of the same viscosity have the same shear stability.   Having enough viscosity is the most important characteristic, but according to Speed, once that required viscosity level is reached, additive chemistry matters more than additional viscosity. Speed also states, oil pressure problems on the racetrack aren’t a viscosity problem; it’s an oiling system problem. Running a thicker oil is just a band-aid for an underlying oiling system problem.
