Found 5" black nerf bars by Lund on realtruck.com for $242. Went to autoanything.com who had them listed at $320. They beat the price by a $1 and there is a $50 mail in rebate. Great deal.

Sorry guys, unfortunately, the rebate is now expired. Still a good price without the rebate, though.

I will do that as soon as they are shipped and I get them installed.

I prefer not having them since the truck looks bigger without so eventual I'll upgrade to the electric ones.

Well shoot. Guess I'll be adding that to my list of things to do. Thanks!

I too like the look of the Go Rhino RB10 running boards. Found a set on Ebay for $134.10:

Then, after I purchased and paid, the seller decided to change the listing and shipped me the item I did NOT order:

Well....isn't that nice. So I had to run into the city to find a Fed Ex store to return the product they sent me.

Has any one put lund rock rails guards on and have pictures or dee zee NXT running boards on 2014-15-16 1500 can decide on which ones, my truck is stock height want them mainly for rock chip protection. THANKS!!

I will do that as soon as they are shipped and I get them installed.

Lund 5" Oval black nerf bars. Took me about an hour total to do both sides. About another hour to figure out where the rattle was coming from on the driver's side.

Finally discovered the annoying rattle was the rear mounting bracket vibrating against rocker panel. No matter how much I tightened it I could not get rid of it. Finally ended up putting a little rubber bushing between the bracket and the rocker panel and that solved it.

Other than that, very simple install. $242 at Realtruck.com. Autoanything matched the price less $1. then a mail in $50 rebate. So $191 total. Seem slike a pretty sweet deal to me.

I will say that after I've got them on, I kinda liked the look of the truck without them. But wifey is very happy and you married guys know how important that is. :fingersx:

Sorry, I have pics. Trying to upload them now, but no luck so far. Eventually I'll figure it out. #oldguyproblems

Has anyone re-painted the flimsy chrome stock running boards? I bought a used set and polished them up to make them look ok enough short term, but they pit so bad and so easy. I was thinking either spray bomb them with flat black rock guard, or sand blast them then get them sprayed with rhino lining. Anyone already done this? Any pictures? Thanks.

Amp research FTW only way to go. IMO if your going to spend the money on a step/nerf go big or go home

hello guys.. just picked up my 2016 silverado crew cab.. let me start off by saying that i absolutely love it!.. first mod i had to do to is was running boards..i really like the look of it.. so started looking around for some.. i did not like the ones they offer for the 2016 silverado , too squarish for me.. i was looking more for the look like one of the members here had on his 2015 midnight edition but couldnt find those running boards anywhere, i finally contacted him and he told me they were from a 2009 silverado and its a direct bolt on, i actually love them .. they dont stick out as much and tuck in real nice ..well here are some pictures... so if anyone has doubts about 2009 running boards fitting a 2016 i can assure you they fit like a glove.

As many have said before........if you live in the north country................

Yeah no, $1,000+ vs $300-500 on avg, no rocker protection from stones and potential failure up north in ice and snow, I will pass on the auto steps. For a street driven DD down south, they aren't a bad option if you want to spend the money, for many other instances there are much better and more cost effective options and by no means the "only way to go"...

Well good thing I live "down south". I'll be taking a trip to the desert in a couple of weeks and let you know how it goes big guy. I sure hope you get something more "cost effective" And enjoy it as much as I do... most definitely "THE ONLY WAY TO GO".... Edited by Sean D
