I had the 07-13 side steps because they tucked up nice but u couldn't more then half your shoe or boot on the step.

I found a set of 2015 crew cab steps not double cab steps on good old Craigslist for $100 .

The 07-13 steps are about 75 long while the crew cab ones go to about 82 1/2. I wanted them wider and longer in the back and this change worked out great.

Only 2 mounts bolted up but nothing a new 3/8 drill bit couldn't fix for the next 2.

Very happy the way it turned out

I had the same issue with my RB10's. Haven't called yet, Its not a huge issue but when you pay for five hundred dollar running boards you shouldn't have defects like that...

Just curious and maybe it was already discussed in this board but I unfortunately do not have all day to read all 40+ pages of this thread. I have a 2015 Double Cab Sierra 1500 and was thinking of looking into the AMP Research boards. Do you know if you can leave the length of them for a crew cab model so they would go back and have access to the bed or are you required to cut them down? I eventually plan on getting into a crew cab when the wife and I decide to have kids but for now I only need the double cab. If I am going to drop a pretty penny on these it would be nice to be able to use them for this truck and my next truck. Thanks!

dont quote me, but just guessing i would think no, but then again maybe because the guy 2-3 posts above has crew cab steps on his double (they dont look long enough for the bed step though)

Don't know the exact answer to your question (and don't remember anyone doing this). However, the instructions say to trim 7" off for a Double Cab truck. This would balance the steps properly between the front and rear door openings and the two hinges. Leaving the extra step length on will not be close enough to the bed to help access the bed. But since the step mounts to the hinges on a track, you could play with it. I would be careful about having too much step on one end to where it would not glide open or close smoothly with too much weight on one end making it out of balance. Just some thoughts to consider.

I actually contacted AMP directly I have not installed these before but I am assuming you must put the mount at different spots where you step depending on Crew Cab or Double Cab. The email I got back basically said I should not leave the extra length on it. Are the AMPS worth every last penny? They are EXPENSIVE!!! Other option I was looking at was the Iron Cross HD Steps. Just unsure how much they would really help. My wife is on the shorter side so I need something that actually is somewhat of a step for her to get into the truck easier.

Not surprised at AMP's response. Yes, IMO, they are worth it. My wife and 87 yr old Mom are both short. With normal steps, they still had to step up enough that they were awkward for them. The AMP steps extend farther down so that it is a more natural stepping motion. Same when exiting. Of course, I like the way they retract out of the way completely as well. I actually think these are the best steps I've ever had (and I've had a few sets between 4 trucks and 3 SUVs including a 2500 Surburban 4X4). Edited by chuckl1218

Yeah i get the whole natural step, IMO its hard to justify 1200 for a step.

 

dont get me wrong ive looked into them and think it would nice but price trumps all that

I guess when you get to be my age, medical needs and comfort come at a price that I am wiling to pay (I didn't mention back issues for Wife and Mom). Good luck.

They are great, but like some I don't know if I was justify spending over $1,000 on a set of steps. I know these new trucks already have enough electronic things, but power steps are just 1 more thing that can go wrong. Plus having fixed steps with small tubing like my N-fabs make me feel better about rocker protection. Some people say the AMP steps do a good job protecting, which I don't deny, but metal tubing to me seems better for protection than what seems to be plastic steps. I just have a thought process where it's my luck that they stop working when I really need them to work. Plus I'm also sure my N-fabs can probably handle more weight and well my best friend is 400 lbs and he rides in the truck usually once or more a week and I think he's right at the limit of the AMP steps. Oh and I like that I have bed access steps to help me get into the bed. With AMP I would have to buy more of their products just to do that and that would end up being $1,500 for the steps and the 1 bed access step or $1,750 for the bed steps for both sides. Where I paid less than 1/3 of that price for my N-fabs that do the same thing.

Alright guys, so its been awhile since I said I was gonna post before and after pics of my Go Rhino RB10's on my '14 Double Cab Silverado. I finally got around to getting some pictures taken, I'm sorry my truck is a mess haha. Like I said before, I drive on a ton of gravel which is the only reason I bought the boards in the first place. I can tell you that they help a ton with rocks that used to hit the bottoms of my doors, and they protect the bottom corners of my bedsides too. If I had to name one thing I dont totally like about them its the texture. You can see in the pictures how it holds dirt and dust and makes them a different color then the truck. Its not a huge issue, just sort of bugs me. All in all very happy with them and would reccommend them to anybody who had rock chips in their doors like I did and wants to stop that.

After: Trucks pretty dirty here! My family owns a remote resort on an Island in the northernmost part of MN. Its almost 100 miles of gravel to get up there and back so my trucks relatively clean in this pic compared to usual!

I too have this issue.

But looks like I have a hookup on some amps, so will prolly sell mine

Finally got these bad boys on

Passenger side arrived with A Dent in it so auto anything is sending a replacement.

 

Also, Raptor has "revised" instructions which didnt make it into my box so I had these washers that werent listed nor used in the installation. I contacted raptor and they gave me a link to the revised instructions and got the washers put in.

 

Only problem I really have is the rear seats only have 1 support bracket on the bar vs 2 for the front

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
