I'm 17 and would be happy to just move the car into the shop and work on it and hand them their keys when they come back to get the car (hell I'd be even happier to just move it to the service parking or sit in the front seat

So after all of that, he's going to get a comparable new car that he should have gotten in the first place.(he gets his insurance payout, the dealer picks up the rest of the cost) I'm sorry, it's the only resolution and still not right as he's going to have that insurance claim on his record now...

 

 

So had the dealer done this is the first place there would be no uproar..... I'm sure it took GM a bit of time to find the car at Berger, but regardless, the first thing the dealer should have told him was that he gets his insurance check and the dealer will make up the difference on a brand new camaro. (trying to sell him a Previously wrecked used one was such a bad move, one thing if it was as pristine as his car but it wasn't) and I will say that I'm not up on the camaros but if they didn't make a comparable model anymore, and they offered him a top of the line NEW camaro and he didn't take it He's in the wrong too..... the way the dealer tried to play it off is what gets me and all this over the last month for the resolution to be new car is just dumb.

 

the dealer still gets off easy as their insurance is only going to pay the difference between the 44k and the new car not the entire amount.

actually, thinking about it, it shouldn't have taken a long time to find that car at Berger because the first dealer I would check for a Camao personally would be that dealership..... they are well known for them

Part of it was the brand new ones aren't as limited as the first year run hence why he didn't really want a brand new one. In the camaro5 topic there are numbers his original combo there was only like 400-500 made

It was a complicated situation...... I don't think he should have been expected to take a previously wrecked car with unwanted options, but at the same time He needed to be flexible on the scarcity of the replacement because they just aren't out there... they locked the thread before he confirmed what exactly he got (maybe legal reasons)

and I still think if the dealer would have kissed his @$$ from the start it wouldn't have tuned out like this....

 

I was at my dealer and we were talking about it and the first thing the GM said is that "the employee would be fired, and the customer called and told to come down and pick any vehicle they wanted on the lot to drive as a loaner while they sorted it out, he'd have to realize the insurance process would take time, but no way I wouldn't be putting him in a car for the meantime and buying his fuel".... I then told the GM to have someone wreck my truck and I'll take that escalade upfront lol

The employee was supposedly fired. They waited to notify the owner, it was like a day or 2 after it happened which is pretty shady.

 

From the start they told the guy its basically his problem. Good luck for them I dont see the dealership continuing very long. I bet GM will limit their allocations heavily
