Put a down payment on a 14 Silverado... thoughts?

I've been searching and searching and finally found one with the options I need and a few wants. So here are the details and wanted to know if it's a fair deal. I know I'm losing my a$$ on trading my 2013 HD but in a few years I will recoup it in gas, etc.

My trade: 2013 White Silverado LT 2500 CCSB 6.0L 6,500 miles with black leather bucket seats and center console, sliding rear window & Z71 appearance package - MSRP was $47,945

The offer for my trade ... $33,000 (highest I have received yet)

I owe ... $30,000

The truck I might buy ... 2014 Silver Silverado LT 1500 CC standard box 5.3L with the LT convenience package and the sport package MSRP @ $43,070 Now this is before GM jacked the prices $1,500 across the board so I am kind of saving there.

Rebates: $4,250 plus $1,000 off sticker.

The skinny:

$43,070 MSRP

- $ 3,000 trade

- $ 4,250 rebates

- $ 1,000 dealer discount

- $ 500 down payment

= $34,320 + tax & tags

Payments would be apx. 485-490 @ 3.3% for 7 years ... Curious if this seems fair out there or if I should hold off? I haven't come across too many sport packages and the truck is really sharp. It drove like a dream compared to my 05 1500 and certainly better than my 13 2500. What is everyones opinion?

You haven't mentioned why either a) you dislike your 2013 or b) you like the 2014 better. If I were you, I'd consider driving the '13 and buying a '15 later this year.

a) I hate the gas mileage in the the 2013 and we just sold our horse farm/trailers. 2500 is no longer needed.

b) The 2014 is better all around it seems and would love to get back into a 1500.

I wanted to wait but the stealership said my trade will drop like a rock once the 2015 HDs hit the lots any week now... so if I don't dump it now, I will prob hang on for 2+ years. I wanted to see if the numbers made sense to trade now or wait..

Only you can really make this choice. If your 2013 is otherwise problem-free, I would keep it. The 2014s are going through a few revisions now for defects that are surfacing after some real road time. That's just my .02. You only live once and if buying the '14 makes you happy (and doesn't hurt you financially), then don't let little ole me talk you out of it. :)

Haha thanks I appreciate your input. I can swing it financially just need some input from others who have pulled the trigger on a 14. I hope, if I do purchase this Silverado, all the updates would have been done. I can call tomorrow I guess to make sure so I don't "burn up" on my way home ;)

i agree with techSTL. but if you just want peoples opinion ill give it. i could not be happier with my 2014. sure there are a few recalls and minor issues 1 major issue (fires) but it's all being taken care of and the minor stuff that is not (like the 4wd switch having a high pitch) will eventually be fixed. i say go for it and dont look back. dont let all the nay sayers on here talk you out of it. and dont go by all the issues you see people are having. like it's been said in the past people dont get on here to brag about their truck, they usually get on here if they have a problem and need some help to diagnose it. GL with the purchase and post some pics.

Just curious, what kind of mu ileage are you getting from that HD2500? Is it a 4X4? Do you have the 3.73 or 4.10 gears?

Seem a little high for $490 at 7 years. Are you putting any money down with your trade?

Thanks whitestallion, I will add a few pictures in a bit.

I am getting 12-13 mixed and 15 highway (few roadtrips this past summer and fall) with 3.73s and yes it is 4x4. It sucks to watch that gauge move more than my rpms and I feather the peddle as much as possible.

The only money I'm putting down is my trade and the $500.

You're paying sticker price on the new truck minus rebates? I say no, becasue you're still paying sticker price. You should easily be able to get about $3K off the MSRP before rebates, so if anyhting knock another $3K off the price they gave you. Also anytime you base a decsion to sell or trade due to mpg's, you always come out behind. You won't make the difference up money wise in a couple years.....more like a couple decades. Second the dealer is trying to scare you to buy by saying when the new models come out, your resale values floor is going to drop out which isn't true.

Use this and see if you come out ahead:

Well I had a 2013 CC Chevy 4X4 and got a 2014 CC Chevy because I did not need the 4X4 and wanted the gas mileage. So with that being said I like the 2014 and my gas mileage is at 20.4 now and still climbing with only 2200 miles on it now.

I got 31,500 on trade in I also got a great deal on the 2014 but I argue with the dealer for two days to get another 1,500 out of them lol. But I know 2014 been having a lot of trouble as for as what I can see on here but I have to say no problem with mine.
