My 2014 with 4-inch BDS Lift and 35" Toyo Tires - No Trimming!

Here is a teaser pic before the sun went down. I will post more pictures here tomorrow but this should confirm for everyone that the BDS 4-inch lift kit plays nice with 35" Toyos (barely!) and no trimming was required. I also added the upgraded Fox 2.0's to the rear with the install.

 

For those interested the measurement from the ground to the middle fender was 37" front and 38 3/4 in the rear before the lift kit and wheels were installed. After the install both are 43 1/2". More pics tomorrow.

good looking truck. sry for digging up this old post but this is the exact setup im getting minus the wheels. you say your riding on 35in toyo mt, but on bds website they have your wheels as 33's??

I also have a question for the guy running the 18" wheel with the Zone kit. BDS says you can't run a 35x12.50x18 on theirs because of the backspacing....but I would assume that depends on the offset of the wheel right? It's the same size tire as the OP, just an 18" inner diameter rather than 20".

I'd think that it would just depend on backspacing. Heck, BDS says you can only run a 35 on their 6" kit but I've seen someone on 17s and 37s on that kit

@ebackwardse1 I know that this is a really old thread, but do you happen to know what the total cab height is on your truck? I have to deal with parking decks once or twice a month & I am trying to decide between the 4 or 6 inch kit.

Just installed them today.

35x12.5x18 on a Zone 4.5, no rubbing at all.

I know this is old but how did you like this setup? Any more pics? How was ride quality?

Yeah, I couldn't be happier! Highly recommend BDS and I love my 4-inch. I am sure their 6-inch is very nice too. Headed out this weekend for some off roading and dirt biking with some jeep buddies up into Sherman's Pass!

Just a quick update to let everyone know I am going to have to do some trimming, unfortunately. It is very, very minor on one side inside the wheel well. Nothing will be visible from the outside. I will post pictures once we get it done so you can see what I mean and my apologies for the now misleading title to this thread! But, I wanted to make sure everyone is up to speed.

 

Also, I drilled out the gold bow ties and replaced them with GM black bow ties and LOVE it!

Are you able to post a photo of the trimming that was required? Love your set-up and am looking at something very similar, but don't want to have to cut too much.

Nice looking trucks guy. I am getting ready to install a Fabtech 4 inch lift with 18-9 Vision Manic Wheels in a few weeks. Looks like 35 inch tires will work. Either Goodrich KO's or Nitto Grapplers. I will post some pic's when done.

This. I need to see a pic, 4" lift + 37s on 17" wheels would be SICK.

Looking forward to some pics man! I've got the zone 4.5 with 295/60/20s with -12 offset. I believe those tires are 34x11.6. They only rub in reverse but I believe that's only bc of the offset. Good luck though!

 

Do you know if i could run the exact setup you have with the lift and tire size on my factory 20 inch wheels? I've got a 2016 silverado 1500.

I have factory 20s with 35x12.5 toyo RT on a BDS 6in lift but I lowered my coilovers to be at 4.5" of lift. I just trimmed the front air dam a little.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. Let me try to answer as best as I can and here are a couple of additional pictures.

 

It's hard for me to say how much the ride and gas mileage has been affected since I barely drove the truck before having everything installed. I do mostly city driving in the beach cities of Los Angeles and get about 9-11 MPG. Pretty terrible, but if I would have wanted gas mileage... Also, I got dirt biking a couple of times a month and get on the freeway and the gas mileage improves to 13-15 MPG.

 

I have the 6.2L and 3.73 rear end.

 

The power of this truck is just F-ING incredible! When I am playing in the desert after unloading the dirt bikes it almost scares me. I turn the traction control off and put it to the floor. I think I could do donuts until it runs out of gas! No problems with pick up and acceleration on surface streets or freeway either. Very, very powerful.

how do you think the 3:23 gear and 8 speed of the 2017 would help with mileage and this set up?? looks awesome think Im gonna build one

      I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.

      If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.

      It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.

      JR ! I just got the truck back from the Dealership today . The technician did a cold remote start on the truck this morning and it made the noise . It was determined that it was a starter issue and replaced it under warranty . Of course   it did not make the sound after a new starter was put in because the truck was not cold . We will we see what happens tomorrow morning when I start the truck cold  . Keep tuned !   Oh I found a video on YouTube of a cold start and it did the same thing your truck and mine do , I will see if I can find it and post it up
