Mark Reuss talks about refreshing the twins for the 2015 model year with new transmission, appearance enhancements, and new tech. Looking to get even better fuel economy and better capability since the new F150 is due at the end of the year and RAM will be refreshing already next year:

Yeah I read that somewhere before...atleast they are paying attention. Maybe they are waiting til they are financially secure before they start gambling more.

Im really curious what the appearance enhancements will be. For the most part I like the new trucks exterior and being so fresh im sure they wont be doing a full facelift already...

And with the fuel economy upgrades I wonder whats in store for the Colorado/Canyon trucks then to keep the gap decent between them and the full sizers.

I'll let you all in on a little secret. GM and Ford are in bed together already. They are jointly working on 9 and 10 speed transmissions and have been for a year. I met the team late last summer or early fall time frame. The transmissions are projected for a 2016 launch, but if things are working out well, that could possibly be moved up. The tooling has been built for around a year, limited runs just in the last month or so. I really don't see it happening until 2016 model year. The 2015 transmissions are being built now. Maybe a late 2015 option, but I highly doubt it. They need to test them first.

Just how I see it.

Going to be funny seeing the Die Hard Ford Guys reaction when they find our their truck has a GM tranny in it.

Lets hope the Sierra drops the dumb looking plastic molding around the wheel wells. What were they thinking? I saw a white diamond Denali the other day and those moldings look cheap.

My opinion of course.

Less chrome would be nice.

It's no secret. All the automakers work on projects together all the time.

I also hope they redesign the square wheel wells, that's the biggest style thing I don't care for along with too much chrome. And make them more accommodating to larger tires, 33s stock and 34s easily with a level.

The 2016 launch is the all new 2017 Silverado/Sierra that will get the JV trans. Not much of a secret.

That was for all the others that don't know everything like you do! 2016 Model year launch will be next year.

And FYI, I personally think GM is smart to wait on the AlumaFord, I'll let you tell me why.

GM trucks have had square wheel wells for 40 years. They're not going away.

This year extremely boxy IMO. Something like the new canyon might be nice. But what do I know.
