Ha!

JUST spoke with the sales manager again, and he says the power rear sliding window option IS now available!

I guess they got the kinks worked out, lol!

Great news for me. Now the pursuit can begin!

I'm very excited!

Saw last week on one news show that all of the 1st batch of Dodges with the diesel had been sold. If you wanted one now you would have to wait for the next batch of trucks. We will see how well they do once they hit the road I guess.

if the first batch is say...500 trucks. thats not very many. not exactly gonna steal the show.

People drink the kool aid when they hear that the first batch sold out, without considering the numbers associated. Its good marketing from Ram.

Gm could say that their first batch of the max tow package has sold out! Along with the illuminated radio knobs. lol

i would be willing to bet that the 8,9, 10 and 11 and 12 and 13 speed transmission scene is a novelty that will soon wear off. kinda like 20" 22" 24" 26" 30" 48" 96" wheels. my 2014 has 6 speeds ,,,,5&6 are both over drives.....when this trans is coupled with the camshaft timing thing-a-ma-bob and camshaft duration is variable there is no need for any more gears....i mean the motor can literally make power between 1,000 and 6,000 rpm....and i don't drive too much over 140 mph ....so what's the point? i think people have lost their minds [at least partially] ......see the guys with 12" exhaust pipes sticking out of the truck bed....i guess if you give them a few more gears to shift through it would add to their fantasy of driving a big rig. beeeeeeeeeeeep...beeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Future is likely infinite variable transmissions. The issue now is torque handling capacity and noise issues. Once those are addressed, gears will likely be obsolete, at least in high trim models.

I just got my 14 but if they come out with a 1500 diesel it will be gone that's for sure. Then again I had a 1500 diesel once...

I am leaning toward picking the Jet Black/Dark Ash Leather colors.

Do you folks prefer the perforated or solid leather seats?

Any advantage of one over the other, or is it strictly a personal preference thing?

Thanks, and I really, really enjoy this forum!

More snowmobile transmissions... great... Chrysler tried that 8 or so years ago in the Caliber and some weenie Jeep model, I think they only made it for a few years.

CVTs are garbage. They drive like crap and have horrible lazy response. I use Enterprise for all my local rentals for work and they have a standing order of "anything but Nissan and their shit transmissions" when it comes to my rentals.

It's funny, one Subaru model currently has a CVT. But they program it to "feel like" it has gears. Otherwise people think it's weird....

Anyway, I feel 6 gears is plenty for these gas engines. The diesels have a smaller usable RPM range so I think more gears will help keep them in their sweet spots a bit better (especially the small ones that don't have such huge amounts of torque). They aren't as bad as they used to be--our old Cummins is about exactly like driving a tractor, but they certainly aren't usable from 1500-6000 RPM like the GM gas engines are.

Put in an 8 speed and 513 gears in town gas miles would go up along with hwy. The stop light performance would blow your mind. The engine horse power could stay where it is. Its fun watching the tack just bounce back a little instead of the deep dives with the four speeds.

    • Not sure about DFM tech but i know there's a stop/start deactivation button.
    • I could be interested if they axed cylinder deactivation and at least have a button for stop start. I’m sure the HP numbers will be higher. I would want a longer warranty to help build confidence. I’m a less is more guy as I get older. A V-8 work truck model would be my choice. I know a few outfitters for custom additions I prefer.
    • It's official. GMC pulled the covers off the next-gen 2027 Sierra 1500, and we got the first official look. Full breakdown here: https://www.gm-trucks.com/next-gen-2027-gmc-sierra-1500-v8-trim-changes/   The quick hits: SLE and SLT are dead. The new core retail trim is just called "Elevation". Two new V8s, a 5.7L and a 6.6L built with high-performance Corvette architecture roots. No horsepower or torque numbers yet. The 2.7 TurboMax finally ditches the old gearbox and gets the 10-speed automatic. AT4X moves to larger standard 35-inch tires with front and rear e-lockers, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and heavy-duty Jounce Control Dampers. Over 60 inches of combined display on Denali Ultimate and AT4X, complete with a motorized articulating center screen and an adaptive passenger screen. Seven simplified trims across the entire model line to clean up ordering confusion.   So let's get into it: New 5.7L and 6.6L gas V8s with custom active exhaust tuning and a Corvette connection. Is this the exact engine lineup half-ton traditionalists have been begging for? Purging the iconic SLE and SLT names after all these years to lean entirely on Elevation as the high-volume core. Bold move, or a mistake? That motorized articulating 16.3-inch screen that slides up to reveal a hidden dashboard vault. Awesome mechanical theater, or does it make you nervous about long-term durability? Physically lowering the headlamps in the front fascia to improve road courtesy and stop blinding oncoming traffic. Smart real-world engineering, or does it hurt the truck's aggressive stance? What trim are you putting your name down for on day one? Drop your first impressions below.
    • My overnight hospital stay turned into five.  I developed a post operative fever and an erratic  heart rate.  A blood clot in the lungs was the culprit.  This is apparently a common post surgical complication and easily remedied.   I was the youngest in a four bed ward and a Doctor with a Geriatric specialization was in charge of my care.  All of the nurses were good and some were outstanding at dealing with old people.  It was very evident that my age triggered a different level of care!  My advice to any senior going for a hospital stay is to have a trusted family member advocate visible.  If not, you will still be well cared for, but you may discover that your voice  isn't as strong as it once was!
