How do I get clock to work?

My 09 Silverado Lt Ext Cab has the bluetooth feature which I like very much.

 

If I make or receive a phone call, the call is routed through the speakers in the truck.

 

The problem I have is that when I am talking on the phone, the radio goes off, which I can understand it muting so there are no sound interuptions, but display goes off, including the clock.

 

If I am on the phone, I have no idea what time it is.

 

How do I get the clock to stay on when I am on the phone?

i don't have Bluetooth in my truck, but I've never heard of this issue before. Very weird, any one with Bluetooth in the gmt900's experience this also?

It does it in my truck and in my Traverse. Everything is gone except the icon of the phone.
