So I "attempted" to remove the range selector box( where the shift linkage cable is connected to) if my terminology is off please in lighten me. But was unable to remove the selector shaft from the unit. I removed the 13mm bolt from the case holding the box, then the linkage from the manual selector shaft, along with the 10mm from the shaft it self and tried to pull the rod free. So to slide the selector box out and allow it to dangle to R&R the seal. And was unsuccessful with removing the selector shaft and rod.

Is their a proper procedure or what?

That shaft does NOT come out from the outside ...

The seal can be replaced without removing it .

There is. Special tool to remove the seal and installing the seal ..

DO NOT ATTEMPTTHIS WITHOUT THESE TOOLS , spend the hour labour and have a shop do it THAT HAS THESE TOOLS

Ok, thank you! Just wondering I'm assuming that the tool would go over the shaft and retrieve the seal? Then the same to press it in?

Removed and replaced selector shaft seal. Was not that difficult, to my surprise! Although the rust on the shaft was a pain (haha). But the range selector was the difficult bit removing and installing( mark the shaft with the range selector unit!) Rec: a paint marker. Or could possibly not known what gear your in. My case "N" was "R". And everything was all foo-ie.
