I actually found the complete overhead console on eBay. YES eBay ! I purchased the complete console and install took about 2 minutes. Pull hard on the console, starting on one of the front corners and disconnect the main power bus connector. Connect the new unit, pop in place and your good to go. I think the parts guy at the dealership is full of crap.

The main connector is the large black connector on the left/center. The plug on top was for the seat belt light for the passenger side. I had to remove it from my original console for the new one.

So simple my wife could do the install.

So all the connectors were already there from the factory?? If you don't mind asking how much did you pay and is there anyway you could give the rest of us the correct part number so that we may order!! Thanks!!!

Actually I won an eBay auction for that complete setup that I posted in the photo. My dealer said I would void my warranty, but the install was so simple anyone could do it. The only thing needed to add to what I won in the auction was the seat belt light for the passenger, which I took off of the original console that came out of my truck (connected to white plug at top of photo).

When I originally purchased the transmitter, the buttons was a separate part #, there was no wiring for the transmitter and the console itself could not be modified for the transmitter. You would have to find the complete console IMO to make it work.

As far as part #'s the console # would is visible but again to order each part separate would be a nightmare.

From the photo I see the wire harness that has the extra plug for the transmitter is # 23127740. My original console (without the transmitter) # is 23127737.

The console for the transmitter is part # 23455245 and my old one without is 23161745.

You should be able to get the transmitter # and button # at the parts department.

PLEASE NOTE: This console does not have any controls for a power roof which I believe will also change the part #...

The home link everyone speaks off is the that button on the console to use the garage door? Or something else.

Yes it is for garage doors, gates or modules that can turn on lights etc in the house.

I had one in my '03 F-150 and I really liked it. It had an added feature called Travelnotes which is a voice memo recorder. I found one just like it on ebay for $15. I have spent over a month fabricating a panel, moving lights and switches and upholstering the thing. Then I had a heck of a time finding a good power source. I ended up running a wire from the fusebox ( thanks to MotoMedics RAP thread) when I installed my driverside front pillar grab handle (thanks again for THAT thread , guys) Finally got it all together today.

FYI, do a search for HOMELINK!!! The manufacture is in Elkhart, In and you can purchase the transmitter direct from them or one of there vendors. They have two different color faceplates and it installs in upper console between sunglass holder and dome light, about $210 if my memory serves me right.

I bought a console on eBay. The main console is screwed in in the back, don't try and pull it out. I opened the sunglass holder and was able to grab the center section and pop it out. There are two tabs on each side, but pops out fairly easily. Then find the two black screws holding the rear to clips in the roof panel and remove them. The back section should start to hang. Front section is held in by two clips that hold pretty well. Tried to get tools in there and can't. Finally pulled a bit harder and console popped out. Wiring harness is different depending on options. The console I purchased on eBay was scuffed up in spots, so just swapped wiring harness and center section with old, then reinstalled. Works well.

I put my opener in the ashtray...

So now when they break into your truck they now have your remote to be able to head to your house and open your garage and walk away with anything in there. You are brilliant, why didn't we think of this???

Beats home link........ Look up push button....walk in!

At least they would have to look for it.

Besides, after the dogs eat your a$& who cares!

Just poking at you in fun, but that is the prime reason I don't leave openers in my cars. Several cases of people breaking into the vehicle, stealing the GDO and insurance or registration info then going to your home and opening the garage door and clearing out the garage.

If that happened to me it would be a bad day, there is right at $30k in bicycles in the garage along with a huge tool box and my gun safe. Would prob cost the insurance company $50k+ if my garage got hit.

You might want to reassess your risk management if you have 50k worth of assets secured only by a GDO. ;)

Not much of a choice, that why it is all insured. Safe is covered on separate rider as are the bikes.

    • Progress... sort of.   Intake is disassembled, spider is out, fuel lines removed. Used a torch on the stripped screw with the lower intake off, much easier when I've got the intake sitting on my workbench, I made it talk. Walked right out with a pair of vice grips once it was nice and toasty hot.   New parts are piling up on my service cart waiting to be installed. Distributor, temperature sensor, new gaskets, fuel line kit, themostat, water neck.   My new pickle is I don't want to spend $600 on a replacement spider. I'm not sure IT is bad. I'm probably splitting hairs. Or it's $300 to send mine away and another 3 weeks of the truck just sitting. I have half a mind to assemble everything with the old spider to see if I can get away with just replacing the fuel pressure regulator to be safe. The obvious issue was the gushing high pressure fuel line which will be replaced. Getting to the spider really isn't that hard, and now I know what I'm doing , swapping it would be a breeze should it absolutely need one. Stupid, or smart?   The part that gives me pause is replacing the distributor. Well, it's already out. And I didn't mark it, whoopsie! Engine was at TDC when I removed it, I know that, so upon correct reinstall the metal tip on the rotor should point to the TDC mark on the distributor because that's where it was pointing on the old distributor. Worst case I'm a tooth off and have to re-stab it.   But then, what? I assume the truck will start. It doesn't appear the timing can be set. Here's the problem: These distributors can't be rotated but a degree or two, by design. What I read is Cam ****** needs to be -2 to +2 degrees, ideally at 0 (and checked/set above 1000 rpm). There should be enough wiggle to get that properly set, but checking the reported value is another potential issue. My Actron 9185 scanner says it supports enhanced GM PIDs and Cam ****** is one of them but it's unclear that I'll be able to correctly see it over OBD 1.5. I can see why people end up junking these things with life left in them. They're an absolute nightmare with tweener-year diagnostics/electronics and unobtanium parts.   Fingers crossed it starts and idles nicely. There can be hope, right? I'ma buy a lottery ticket the same day just in case.   Next steps..DO IT. I have not installed an intake before so I've been reading and watching a lot. Some say NO RTV except on china walls, some say DO RTV on water ports but not fuel/air intake. 1/4 or 3/8 bead on China walls? I think my strategy will be, obviously, RTV china walls with overlap on the gasket corners. Chapstick-style RTV the water ports. Leave intake ports dry. The only set of intake gaskets I could find locally are Edelbrock performance gaskets (uh...for an asthmatic 190hp V6? LOL) so we'll see how they do.   #NoToolLeftBehind. It took an hour, but my recovery mission for my deep 10mm socket was successful. It had rolled down the bellhousing and wedged itself between what I think are the fuel lines? I couldn't see it at all, but with a junk antenna I had laying around, I blindly went poking/sweeping for it, heard it clink, raised the truck, and caught a sliver glimpse of chrome with a flashlight way up there in Narnia. I had pushed it farther along the lines holding it captive, but within access of severely improvised tools, poking and cursing at it to finally knock it free to where I could get a fingertip on it to bring it home.    Not much to see.
