Same here. Have tried it multiple times. My wife's car has a homelink and I can program it no problem. To me it seems like it still has something going on with wiring. If it only requires ground and power, why is there three wires going in?

Some of us tried to install the homelink After install the unit lights up LED flashes slowly when trying to learn remote but never learns the transmitter code. Any ideas why? thanks

Not sure why there would be an issue. As long as you have power to the transmitter, it should be able to be programmed as it is a 'self contained' unit that doesn't require anything else to do with the vehicles computer system, ONLY the power plug is required. There is a setup that must be done, http://www.homelink.com/program/watchvideo Hope this helps.. I do remember having to reprogram it after I messed it up the first time.

I know I feel the same way. Does your set up work?

I bought mine off of eBay. I sent the other one back. Got another one and that one does the same thing, flashes slowly and never learns. These things should only require power and ground and everything else is internal to the module.

Who did you buy from on Ebay and was the airbag light missing?

Priorityautomotive2015 was the seller. And yes the pass. Airbag on/off indicator had to be transferred from my console to the new one I got off of eBay.

Homelinks only need power and ground to work, they are not on the CANBUS system. Make sure to hold the outside two buttons down for 10+ seconds to clear any stored memory positions. The light will flash fast once this is done. Then while holding the GDO opener below the Homelink module push the button on the HL you want to use and the GDO opener button at the same time. Hold them both down until the HL light flashes fast.

That part of the process only programs the GDO opener rolling code to the HL module, now you need to tell the GDO opener head unit that the HL module is a allowed remote. Press the learn button on the back of the GDO head unit and then press and hold the button you used in the above process on the HL module. If the process is done correctly the GDO head unit should flash the garage light to let you know the opener is programmed.

I agree with this person right here. My thinking is the homelink does not have a code in it from the factory. That is why it flashes slowly. Once a code is learned to the homelink transmitter the LED light does not flash at all (after the initial rapid flash indicator) it then stays solid when pushed. You need to have a learned code before you can connect to the Opener. The opener then registers the code from the transmitter. Our problem is the homelink never learns the code. I still didn't see a positive console feedback from the person I bought from on Ebay and he has about 10 or more on Ebay for sale ????? So maybe the stuff on Ebay are all faulty. If anyone out there has had success from these ebay seller please let us know. Thanks

I don't think they should be like that new from the dealership. I wonder if his consoles are faulty That why he got them cheap That's where I bought mine. He told me he didn't have any complaints from any buyers. Sounds fishy! I wonder where Stonephillips got his?

I've had the same problem. Bought from the same guy on eBay and then purchased just the transmitter from a separate vendor with no luck. When looking at the wiring harness , there are 3 wires going into the home link transmitter. Does anyone know if they are now trying to run this through the computer? Or have a wiring diagram? Was thinking maybe I can clip and retire if necessary.

By same guy do you mean priorityautomotive ?

how much is the homelink from gm without the panel? If its cheap enough you could just try that route, or go to LKQ and rob one from a truck there. I doubt they charge much for it.

I would bet these consoles are assemblies that have changed part numbers by GM and are no longer a supported part. Therefore, these parts are now acquired by people or other business that sell them as "new old stock". But either way, the console should in theory function. Has the guy that made the video ever shown his actually operating and working as it should?

I was thinking they didn't work from new and were sent back to factory or GM after a dealership swapped them out for a good one. Hence no box One of mine had a date of 2014 and the other had a date of 2016 on the Homelink module. They were also dirty like they were sitting on a shelf somewhere.

if there is 3 wires to it then it is 12v constant, 12v switched, and ground. I have setup several HL GDO on vehicles that didn't come with them. There is nothing to setting them up.

Because of this thread, I went ahead and programmed my HL. I don't like the idea of having access to my garage since I park in the driveway.

But programmed it anyway to test it.

Wish it worked on a Run/Crank Voltage, ACC Voltage, or RAP instead of constant power. I locked my truck with the driver side window rolled down, waited for all power to be off... and was still able to open the garage.

I have a Chamberlain Key Fob I'd rather use but can't seem to program it with my GDO. I have a Genie and all other brand visor remotes programmed fine.

That's an interesting idea to switch the HL to RAP instead of constant power.

does your chamberlain having a rolling code? i know for mine, i had to hit the visor remote, then i had to go to the opener itself and push a putton, then jump back to the truck within 30 seconds

The GDO itself is a Genie and has a rolling code. The transmitters I've got are Lift Master, Genie, and Chamberlain. Lol. I guess I've collected various brands over time. Only the Chamberlain Key FOB doesn't program. Everything does.

I may look into switching the HL to something other than Constant Power. I don't keep any valuables in the garage but... why give someone who is outside, access to be that much closer.
