So I went in to the service department today because of a lag and delay in acceleration on my Sierra. The service manager tells me that this is affecting more than one model of GM's and provides me with a list of nearly 2 dozen models that customers have complained about. For some reason it's due to computer issues. I know two things. One is that I love my new truck and have little to complain about. The other is that my 2008 Silverado would have absolutely smoked my current truck off the line in acceleration. In any case, I talked to the service manager about changing from a 3.08 rear end to a 3.42 and they're looking into seeing what needs to be done. From what he's saying it's more of a computer issue than actually hanging parts on the truck. Has anyone else looked into this? It seems like these new vehicles are at the mercy of their creator and the evil computer codes that the dealerships needs to obtain to get things done....

I have 3.42 in my 14 5.3 and have been waiting for the aftermarket to come out with 3.73 or 4.10s for our year truck. I agree my 2010 with the same 3.42 all stock 150,000+ miles would beat this new 14 in a 1/4 mile race. I pull a 7000lbs camper and im kinda scared this new truck might not have the power. If I do a gear swap I would have to recalibrate (flash the PCM) if I wanted speedo correct. I don't want to kill my warranty by doing this, but might have to. If I do I'm sure a tune could do wonders for this new motor.

wow... You guys cant be serious about the power. The previous 5.3.s were slugs compared to mine and I have a 3.08. With that being said, I am looking forward to either a 3.73 or 4.10.

I agree that the throttle lag can be a bit irritating at times, absolutely hate it when I command my truck to move and it sits there and says "what?" It seems to be a little bit more laggy than previous DBW trucks and certainly agree that it should be addressed.

I may just wait for aftermarket 3.73 to come out instead of switching to a 3.42. I know there's a difference between the 3.08 and 3.42 but the money is probably going to be the same by putting a 3.73 in. iCry, I'm telling you that my 08 Silverado would beat my current Sierra. It may not have been smoother but it went when you told it to.

Have you tried leaving the line with the traction control off. I guarantee you that it is really night and day off the line with trac control on and off. Try it and let's us know what you think?

If you are talking about power braking and trying to take off WOT then you have to turn off Traction Control or truck will dcrease power for a brief second. This can be disabled in tune but you have to turn it off to launch. With this turned off this truck should murder any other 5.3 out of the hole excluding a 2014!!! My dads stock 2014 3.42s will jump my brothers 2011 tuned and CAI 6.2 3.73s out of the hole and his truck will fly!! Try turning it off or let us know if you have or havnt.

Just throwing this out there....maybe you have a fuel issue? My 2014 with a 5.3 and 3.42 rear end is insanly fast. It would beat my older 2010 5.3 easily. I havent really leaned on mine too hard yet, but wow it goes.

If you are referring to the dreaded dead pedal lag at initial acceleration, then you are on the money, these truck are horrible. It does seem like it takes a lot of skinny pedal to get them to move, it's almost like the truck is asking me "are you sure you are ready to go?" every time I want to take off. Its not the lack available power causing that, its just some dumbass at GM that thinks he needs to control every numb footed idiot out there. I almost hate to say it but to me, it borders on the edge of a safety hazard.

So on the way into work this morning I turned the Stabilitrak off and yes there is a difference. More torque most definitely but it does still lag on initial acceleration. With it on the vehicle is much smoother and if you will, docile.

When I first got my truck I noticed it took a lot of pedal to get any response (5.3 w/3.42s), it seemed tepid to respond in normal driving where you don't give it a lot of pedal. I mentioned this to the service guy when I went in to get the fire recall reprogramming. He said to let him know if the reprogramming improved the acceleration on my next visit. What ever they did in the reprogramming definitely improved the response in the first 1/3 of pedal travel.

It has really good acceleration for a full size pickup, enough so that I'm wanting better exhaust to hear what I'm feeling when I give it some pedal...

The pedal slush and resistance works as designed. It is all about fuel economy. If you want more response, use more right foot.

My 2011 5.3 was the same way. You keep pushing on the pedal and wait... wait ok I will down shift. It is the stock tune in the truck, that is set up for fuel economy. I had Justin for Black Bear do a in person custom tune on my truck. He turned of the AFM and worked on the shift points. The way my truck pulls out of the hole now and pulls hills is night and day for before. It went for ok to drive to wow this is great. If I buy another truck I would get Justin to tune as soon as possible. Spend the money and get it done you will not be sorry.
