Lube isnt an issue, my main problem with the AR is carbon build up. There is some slight build up on the 1911 but nowhere near as bad as the AR

Slip 2000 Carbon Killer will clean it up nice. Just be sure to lube it up well agter the fact because that stuff removes everything!

 

When mine get all carboned up, I take them to work and just throw them into the sonic cleaning tub, very simple. I just wish I could afford one for home.

My current issue will be prep. Neither has been pulled out of its case in about a year. Cleaned, lubed, and put away. Havent shot since

Ballistol, Break Free CLP, Hoppes #9, frog lube... pick your poison.

 

I've been using BreakFree & Hoppes for last 4 years & am going to try out Ballistol now.

 

Some of the vintage shotgun guys swear by Ballistol. I can't say that I've tried it.

I have found the Real Avid AR-15 Scraper Tool to be helpful on the real hard stuff. This and similar tools are available at amazon.com.
