Couple problems and thoughts

I have a 1996 chevy k1500. I recently got home from a lds mission they sent me home for knee problems I had surgery yesterday. But with surgery I have had some thoughts (it might be the drugs thinking just a warning)

When I left my truck was getting 18-20 mpg on the highway now it's only getting 14 or so and I'm not sure why. It sat for 8 months in a garage and was started by my grandpa every month or so. The oil is ver clean and it has a full tank of fresh gas. I did notice on my scangauge that when I first started my truck the bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor didn't change at all when cold I know it doesn't run off them untill it warms up but it was stuck at 82 I didn't check bank 2. To my knowledge they are original o2 sensors and even after it warmed up it still seems to hesitate a second or two but I don't have a cel light. What are your thoughts?

I was also looking at my air intake and the stock one seems pretty good for getting cold air but I was wondering how beneficial it would be to replace the accordion plumbing with some smooth PVC pipe or tubing of some kind. I think it would help air flow better into the motor thoughts?

Thanks

O also when I brake my steering wheel shakes and the truck seems to lug forward while braking ( like warped rotors) but also it looks like my brake master cylinder is leaking out the back there is a wet pool running down the brake booster but I'm not sure that's what it is but I don't know what else it would be. I just replaced the master cylinder about a year or so ago it shouldn't be leaking should it? I haven even put 10000 miles on it since I replaced it. But my brakes have always felt funny kind of spongey. I guess that would explain why any thoughts? The brake pads, calipers, fluid, MC, are new and they have been bled multiple times which helped for a short time but then gradually got bad again but the fluid didn't seem to go anywhere.

Ps I have not been driving while on my drugs.

Definitely change your 02 sensors with a quality brand like Bosch. They are only $25 a piece on rockauto.com the 2 o2 sensors before your catalyc converters are the most important and tell your computer to adjust file mixture. The o2 sensors after your catalyc converters only function is to alert your computer and check engine light that a converter is plugged or not working.

Just replaced all 4 on my 97 and it gets 17 - 22 (70mph vs 55 - 60mph) if I go 80mph then it's more like 16 or a bit less.

These trucks brakes have always been a bit spungy. I did a full system bleed, turned rear drums and purchased new front rotors. Stopping is now smooth as silk.

Btw your front rotors are "floating" type and a piece of cake (mmmm cake) to replace. Your master cylinder should not be leaking. Replace it again nave with a different brand.

Thanks for the info! I looked closer at my master cylinder and it doesn't seem to be leaking like a thought. But braking still sucks I'll look into getting that done.

At 65 mph I'm usually around 18 or 19 mpg unless it's even the slightest uphill then it kills it down to like14 or 15 mpg. I just don't want to mess anything up on it it's the only transportation I have other then my dirt bike haha.

I'm almost positive the rotors need replaced I jacked it up and spun the tire. In one place it had resistance and then none.

So I did some more research and read some about brake fluid, and I have never flushed the brake fluid out before plus I had added fluid from a open container (face palm). The system has had multiple leaks and part replacements but I have always done a quick bleed. I looked at my fluid and sure enough it was pretty nasty looking. So I had my dad help me and we flushed it all out untill clean fluid came out at each tire. How ever a day or so later it had black gunk in it again so I sucked the brake fluid out of the mc with a thing I got for a $1.50 at the family dollar. I did not suck it dry. And I added clean fresh fluid again. I did this a couple times and the fluid got cleaner and cleaner, it also made a world of difference in my brakes. It will engage the abs on pavement if. I need it to now and I feel a lot more confident. Still a little spongey but sounds like that's normal.

It still feels like the rotors or drums need replaced but only somtimes when I brake not all the time :/ what would make it be intermittent?
