Painted Tailgate Handle / Bezel Cover

Has anyone removed the tailgate handle yet to paint it? I currently have the chrome cover...but way too much chrome for that area and looks gaudy. I would like to have a chrome handle and painted bezel cover, that way it matches the door handles. I wish GM would have considered this on the higher priced trucks like Ford does, it looks alot nicer.

Found 1 pic on the net of all painted but no chrome handle.

Me too, I think the black handle is an eye-sore on the back of my Denali. A major styling goof in my opinion. I'd like to get mine painted as well. Not sure about painted or chrome handle though. Either would be much better than black plastic.

Looks like i can get some tailgate handles from e-bay for around $30 each (with and without camera)...I am looking to see if it is worth ordering a dozen and having the handles chrome plated and painting the bezels to sell. But have to check cost first.

Checking with plastic chrome plating shops to see how much for handle.

Hold on... i think i found it....... $73.50 = S&H but only the hanle is chrome....why not alreay offer them PAINTED!!!!

I think i will just order one of these and have the local shop paint the lower part of the new one along with my old one all red and sell the all red one.

I've got that on the "to do" list myself, I painted the one on the 2wd, now I have to do the New 4wd. It's ridiculous GM has over looked this, I'm sure 2015 they'll add color matched as an option. GM dealers just suck at selling accessories or options, they either have them installed by factory, on delivery or "we can't do that". Ive I owned a dealership, I'd have a parts liaison that every New vehicle buyer met, and could up sale add-ons, wether customer requested or just available to add.

If anyone finds pre-painted post it up. I need Summit White. I can't find painted door handles either,, it seems white trucks were sold early on, and now it's the other colors taking over.

Here is a link to some paint matched tailgate handles. I really like this one and would like to do the same thing...

If you don't mind me asking, how much did this run you?

My truck was rear ended a while back and its currently in the shop being repaired and i questioned them about painting the handle and bezel and they quoted me $216...... Seems kind of high to me given they are already have to spray the lower rear fender where the rear bumper was pushed into the fender.

That is actually a picture from a post by YQatari. I PMd him to see how he did it - basically, he took the handle off of the truck and had his dealer paint it. Send him a PM and ask him if you would like. I am taking my truck in next week for the transmission cooler Recall and will ask them how much to paint mine.

That's kinda steep! My dealer quoted me something around that, but I saved some by doing the sanding myself, payed $100 out the door.
