Silverado instrument cluster vs GMC

I traded in my 14 Silverado for a GMC SLT yesterday and the only thing I miss about the silverado is the blue hash marks and red needle and just more coloring of the DIC. Maybe I will get use to it in time but the GMC is just so much red, I feel like I bought a Pontiac! Do you think there's a way or will be a way to customize the colors? Not a big deal as I love this truck so much more but I was just curious.

The GMC's have a little Pontiac in their DNA. I remember either the late '50's or early '60's GMC had a Pontiac engine in some of the larger trucks.

I just realized you can't change the theme on GMC like you can on the chevy.

I guess it's just personal preference. When snowplow hit my new '95 Chevy pickup I had to drive a Pontiac rental car for three weeks. I grew to hate the red lighting in the dash. A lot of people must like it, but it's a deal breaker for me. I love the blue lighting in my Silverado. Funny the subtle differences in the two brands assembled in the same places.

Curious why did you trade your brand new truck for almost the same thing? The only way I would buy a GMC is if I was buying the Denali.. I really wish that cluster would have came with the Silverado ltz or high country..

The Denali DIC isn't all that great. It keeps on resetting and you lose all the customizations, including best fuel mileage. It's full of problems.

I had some issues and the dealer wanted to make me happy and gave me 5000.00 less then I bought it from them 10 months ago and I put 13,000 miles on it. I always wanted the GMC because I like the way it looked but made an impulse buy and got the Silverado that didn't do much for me because I needed a truck and the only GMC's on the lot were 50 grand. I got a SLT this time compared to a LT before, got the Cocoa Dune interior so it feels like a totally different truck to me. It sucks I lost 5 grand but honestly my payment went up $45 a month to go from a LT to a SLT and I'm starting over at 72 months but I'm so much happier with this one it's worth it.

Also noticed that I could set the volume for the backup alert on the Silverado and can't on the Sierra.

my friend just got the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali HD Diesel and I like his dash a lot more than my 14'. but I didn't buy a $75k truck either. the ol saying goes...u get what you pay for.

I like the red. But then a BMW driver. As far as themes, don't even mess with all the stuff the BMW has so sure not going too in a truck.

Brought the all terrain as a "when need to haul stuff vehicle", so will not have that much time inside it. Seem like a nice truck

and greatly improved from past model gmc trucks.

I was wrong you can change the volume on both.
