Anyone here install one? Been giving it some thought but concerned about the "reflection" off the windshield............your opinion.

It was the first thing I installed on my Silverado LTZ. It reduces glare, protects the dash from sun damage, and makes a place where any velcro equipped electronics can be placed. I have one in every one of my vehicles. I usually put in the Dashmate Ultimats.

In the 1970 - 1980s my dad and I had a lot of the Chevy trucks dash boards crack from the heat of the sun. I usually keep my vehicles a long time. Those dash boards were easy to replace. Overlay over on a metal dash board frame. You would have to paint the replacement dash and the cost was in the area of $200 +/-. I had a dash board warp in my Ford Contour (2000 plus) and this dash board was very hard to replace. It was part of the vehicle. The dealers wanted about $1,400 to replace it way back then. It affected the heating vents. I ended up taking out the windshield and bolting down the areas of the dash board in question to fix it. Dash boards might be better now (tinted windows etc.) but the sun can still cause damage such as fading etc. I dont know the cost to replace a dash board nowadays but it is a lot of money. Since then I have always got a dash board cover and never had any problems since. When purchasing a dash cover dont just look at the price but how it fits over the dash board. Just cheap insurance for me but nothing is a 100% guarantee.

Those are definitely a step down from the look of the uncovered dash.

I'll just keep using a windshield shade to prevent sun damage. Plus, it keeps the cab temps down...

The dashmat is really just for glare. It won't help keep the temps down at all.

I think he's meaning to say that he doesn't like the look of the dashmat. So he'll keep using his sunshade to protect his dash and keep the truck cool in the sun.

I tend to agree with him. I haven't really ever noticed a glare off of the dash. Maybe one to many coats of armourall?

I like that, is that the Dashmate Ultimat?

The dashmat looks good. I was waiting to hear back from coverking as to when they are releasing theirs. want to compare prices. Using older models, the dashmat seems it will be the way to go.

Yes, it's the Ultimat.

I was on their website and the prices are quite reasonable. I thing the Cinder would look great with the black interior. Not to mention the protection of the dash. I hate putting that sunshade up and removing it everyday, but parking it in the sun everyday, you gotta do something.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
