Thanks man! It came out a lot better than I thought it would and am extremely happy with the results!

Just wish I knew how to take out the steering wheel trim [emoji19]

Since it's plasti dip, is it going to rub off after a short while? Especially when it gets real hot in the truck and the wood trim on the door when your leg rubs it while driving

I'm sure you've looked, but it seems like I seen a YouTube video where he also color matched everything including his instrument cluster. Thought he explained it on there. Pretty sure he was doing it all in orange if that helps.

I don't think so. I have had it on my emblems for quite some time. Plus I had all the aluminum trim on the dash dipped black for about 5 months without issue. I'm planning to get some Dip Coat from DipYourCar.com to make sure that the dipped pieces are as protected as they can.

Thanks man. I haven't looked too deep into it yet. I found a few ppl on instagram that told me how to do it. All said that you just have to pull the buttons off the back and then you'll uncover a screw on the backside. From there you can work it out but I couldn't get the pieces off easily enough to make me happy and comfortable enough to be able to put the pieces back on without messing up the dip.

NitroDatsik said that you have to disassemble the steering wheel I really don't want to have to go through that much trouble. I'd almost rather go and get a new set of them, paint them, and then bring it to a dealer and let it be their problem to install lol

Nope. I have 2-3 coats of matte white, then 3-5 coats of pearlizer, and then 2-3 coats of pearl metalizer. I was thinking of using glossifier but it looks great already as is so I don't think I'll be using any glossifier

Finished product. Looks like the best match to the OEM paint out of all the pieces I've done.

Waiting a few hours for it to dry enough for me to be able to reinstall. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Okay so you gotta pop the volume/seek buttons off the back of the steering wheel, very easy since they are just clipped in. Once you pull those out you will have access to a torx screw that holds the trim pieces in place. You'll have to undo the screw and then pull the trim from its bottom to release the only think really holding it in place after the screw is undone. From there you'll have to WIGGLE (DONT PULL, if you just pull instead of wiggling it out, then you'll likely end up yanking the wires out of the back and causing damage) the trim out until you get it free. Once the trim is free you'll have to spin It so that you'll have access to the clip that is holding in the plug for the wires that work all the buttons that are connected to the trim piece. From there the piece is completely free from the wheel and you'll be able to remove the buttons and then paint the trim. Not a difficult process but a bit tedious. After you paint, the reinstall can get annoying. I tried to remove the air bag/horn but after about 2 hours, I just gave up and shoved the pieces back into place. Thankfully without messing up the plastidip.

I posted in the color match topic, but you should do the glove box handle or get a gmc logo and dip it then put it on there. Looks blank now on that side.

I'm considering doing the handle as well! Just gotta look at it and see how to remove the handle so it can be painted [emoji106]

EDIT: now that I think of it, it could be easier to just do an emblem there. I could even use my SLT letters that I removed from the tailgate

Finally got a quote for headlight work from a local shop. They wanted $400 in labor to install all the LEDs and do the projector retrofit. I'm starting to think that with Phil's new adapter plates that doing this install myself wouldn't be too bad and would certainly save me a decent amount of coin and this shop honestly didn't seem too confident. Atleast not to me. They don't do a lot of custom headlight work and have never done a sierra light before. I'm also considering getting the shop to open the lights for me and then I will do the work and then get them to seal them back up

Oh and I also ordered the D2S collar so I can see how well the LMZs compare to HIDs in the FXR projectors. I'm hoping they perform just as well if not better and that they still fit in the housing with the FXR projectors.

EDIT: what do you guys think? Think I should go for it myself? It'd save me around $400 and would probably only cost me a weekend. Plus this way I could do some trial and error and see what I think about a couple ideas I have like removing the ambers (if I remove the ambers I would not do switchbacks. I would just leave the amber running lights disabled and I would get the amber on the tow mirrors smoked so that it would blend in with the black plastic surrounding it)

I would really like to send my lights off to Phil but if I do that, it'll be a bit more than what this shop is charging plus around $300 total in shipping to get the lights there and back. All money that I would really rather save and put towards my lift (if I can make a solid decision on height haha)
