Not an odd ball. I wasn't really sure how I would like it so I still have the ghost outline on the driver side for the door molding and I have the molding still installed on passenger side lol. In really didn't like it when I first took it off. Started thinking it was a major screw up cause now I had to put it back on perfectly cause of my OCD. But after having it off for a little while, it's growing on me. I am still considering colormatching and then reinstalling.

I did it cause for a while, I planned to keep all the stock chrome minus maybe one or 2 things. But since getting the truck, I have slowly started to really like colormatching and/or removing the chrome but still am not 110% sure which I like better

Wait a couple days on the color match. I have color match trim I will be installing so you can use that for reference.

I love your build and a real inspiration for me to do something this summer. I have a question, at what point in this thread do you point the sensors on the bull guard? I don't have parking sensors in the front of my truck but I would like to see if I could get some. Might make parking a little easier.

Rock, I'm not quite sure when exactly I did it but to be honest, I still haven't really managed to wire them in to work with the OEM sensors and honestly at this point, chances are its not gonna happen haha. I only say that cause I've had the truck for around 12.5 months now, haven't had rear park assist since I put my hitch on (did that around a month after getting truck) since it trips the sensors and haven't had front sensors in a few months since installing the bull bar and honestly, it doesn't bother me much anymore haha. I've just gotten used to not having the sensors. I am planning to change to the SCA Sierra G2 bumper sometime after I get my lift so I'll have parking sensors then! Haha. But to add sensors to a truck that doesn't have them, I'm not 110% sure but I think you'll need a new bumper (unless you can cut holes in your current bumper to match the holes for OEM sensors) and then you'll need the sensors, and I'm sure a new front end harness since GM hasn't made adding anything easy on these trucks. Also may need to get BCM flashed.

Just a fun fact about the bull bar, I learned a couple weeks ago just how strong the bull bar is when I was at harbor freight and some 300 lbs guy in his F250 drove into the spot infront of me and didn't stop until he was all of about 1-3" infront of me, KEEP IN MIND IM IN THE DRIVER SEAT OF MY TRUCK WHEN ALL THIS IS HAPPENING, and since we were on a slight incline his truck rolled into mine, or well, into my bull bar. I know for a fact that he hit it becuase my entire truck rolled when he the bar. He then proceeded to back his truck up and put it back into park, this time not hitting it, and then got out and walked toward the store like nothing happened. I can only imagine that he either was trying to ignore the fact that I was there or he didn't see me with all my tint, both options are extremely possible. But I got out and checked my truck and his and noticed a dent in his bumper that lined up perfectly with my bull bar pipping. I looked at my bar and didn't see a damn thing wrong so I decided I'd let the guy know by calling him out on it and said "hey jacka$$, just so you know, you did cause damage but it's not on my truck, it's on yours! Bull bars for the win! Have a nice day a$$hole"

Yes I did get a bit aggravated, made evident by the fact that I screamed that to him and made sure everyone in the lot heard me. I even saw the guy cringe a bit when started saying everything so I know he heard me [emoji41]

Hey Mike,

Nice build info on your truck. Can't wait to hear how your headlights turn out! I thought I was done spending money on mine til I started reading this one... There's only a few more things I'm going to do to mine in the immediate future that I've already spent the money on. I need to install my Pop-n-Lock Tail Gate, and Rigid Back Up Lights this weekend, but your interior foot well lights inspired me to do the same so I ordered some of those too.

Thanks for chronicling your build for everyone else to see. You've obviously spent a lot of time, money and research on your truck and the forum benefits from it.

Thanks man! Sometimes I feel like I am putting just a bit too much time and money into it but hey, its what I like to do so thats the price I gotta pay to play the game.

I really like the idea of that pop-n-lock tailgate. I need to do it for mine. I am almost done with what I want to do (or well, I am almost done writing the list for what else I want to do haha) but with the forums you never know whats gonna pop up and what you'll end up doing. My plans for this truck were to keep it stock. Just add an exhaust, level (or lift), tonneau, and bed liner but that plan went downhill when I found this forum lol.

I really can't wait to do my headlight work. I already have the first 4 days of my 10 day spring break reserved for me to work on my lights and to do a bit of painting to the truck.

PS. for those rigid back up lights might I suggest that you put them on an independent switch. The first time you have someone tailgating you on the highway or running with their highbeams, you'll be glad you did, or if you are in a parking tower and turn a corner and are about to back up, you can put them on first so that a car behind you will stop sooner because they will see you are about to reverse. Both are situations I have come across and are reasons why I'm glad I have mine on their own switch

You are correct, I do have the Intune and very much like it. The best part (IMO) is the ability to control the shifts and throttle response. I removed the tune when it went in for some service and forgot to put it back on for a week (I forgot that I even removed the tune) and during that time I couldn't tell at all why the truck seemed like the throttle wasn't doing squat. I was about to bring it back for service on the throttle to complain that it was so weak and then I remembered that I had taken out the tune, so once I put it back in, I was happy once again.

For anyone who is planning to get new tires (of a different size) or anything else like that which could throw off the speedometer, odometer, etc, I would say the Intune is worth it for that alone.

I do plan to get a custom tune from Lew in the future but waiting till after I get my lift and tires if I can ever make a solid decision on a set up lol

oh and for the Intune, the MPG booster really does help. During the winter it helped boost up my MPG by around 2-3 MPG

no problem! If you get one I'd recommend ordering from Autoanything.com. They were EXTREMELY fast to ship it. I ordered it late Thursday, I think somewhere betwee 6-10PM. I drove home Friday, arrived around 12:30 and my Intune had gotten to my house before I did

Okay so no one flame me or anything here but I was talking to some friends the other day about lift, rim, and tire options since we were avoiding doing hwk haha. When we got to my truck some of my friends got me thinking of going back to getting black rims since I have decided to start color matching the chrome on the truck. I'm 95% sure that I will end up with the Zone 4.5" lift and would like to get some 35" tires and that means I have to stay at, or near a +20 offset (on a 20x9 rim) to keep from rubbing w/ a 35x12.5x20.

That being said I know I can fit a 295/60/20 Toyo MT (34.5x11.8x20) without rubbing for sure on that same rim and I can get a bit less offset if I do the 295/60. I was wondering what you guys think of doing something like the Rockstar II rims and color match the center and fins. Or getting the RDR USA rims (same ones I posted earlier but I'd get the black and machined version). If I get a black rim it won't be all black, it'll likely be black with chrome or milled accents and the accents will get painted to match the truck's paint. I like the idea of black rims better than chrome mainly for the fact that a chrome rim, cannot be fixed if damaged, a black rim, can be fixed (both situations assume that damage was done to the finish)

Id just like to hear what some of my build followers think of this idea.

( I may even go with a set of Anthem wheels http://anthemwheels.com/wheels/ )

Of the anthems this is what I would get, but all the chrome on the rim would be color matched WDT

also keep in mind my near future plans are to smoke ambers on mirrors for sure, either clear (if I get chrome rims) or smoke (if I get black rims) the ambers inside the headlights. I also plan to light smoke the tails. After lift, rims, and tires, the next big purchase would be the SCA performance Sierra G2 bumper color matched and I will color match the rear bumper at that time also). I am going to try out color matching the grille and chrome inserts in grille when I do the door handles and tailgate handle.

Let me know what y'all think! And as y'all know, this is just an idea for the rims cause we all know just how much I can't make up my mind on what I want.

As for the Rockstar 2's, I can't decide if I like them or not. They do lend themselves nicely to color matching pieces and parts though. They are growing on me though.. RDR has some good looking stuff. Something with a lip is more my style though.

Yea they do look good with the colormatched parts. I'm almost thinking of going with the Anthems defender series instead since it's basically the same but no one else has them. Get those and colormatch the fins and center emblem like I would on the RS II's.

I think the rs2s will be very common like the first ones before long so the anthems would be a good call.
