Fold A Cover G4 Elite owner question

So I have been looking for a good cover, I read the entire thread posted.... :freak:

I think the G4 Elite is what works best for my needs. Everyone notes the ease of installation, removal, waterproof, no rails, etc. The one thing I did not see in the thread was security? How good is the locking system? It is great, excellent, decent, okay, crap?

I need something that is hard to get into the bed.

Any input or experience would be great.

The lock on the cover only prevents the handle from lifting up. The cover uses a locking mechanism similar to a car door. When the striker bars are adjusted properly, the cover is very secure. If they are not adjusted properly, the cover can be locked and seem secure but with a little upward pressure the latches will open from the striker bars. Took me a few times to get them adjusted properly.

Thank you. I have things I leave back there on the weekend (golf clubs, skis, etc.) Typically not overnight sometimes I have too.

I am looking for a good locking one and the locking system on G4 looked good but have not seen one up close, just online. I also really like the design on the G4 so was wondering. May have to keep looking.

Very satisfied with mine, also. As stated, when latches are adjusted correctly, it is quite secure. One person can take it off in about 5 minutes, too. I like that it has 4 sections, versus the 3 for most folding covers.

I love my G4 cover. No complaints. I find the locks to be very secure.

Same here.

Bkew,no matter what you get,if "they" want in your truck bed,it will happen. As folding hard covers go, IMHO,the G4 is at the top of the list.

Me too! I had a Extang folding cover installed on my 2014 Sierra 1500 2 wees ago and evrytime it rains it leaks in the front of the bed (I figured it'd leak by the tailgate AND IT DID NOT LET ME DOWN)

Took it bacl to the dealer and they beefed up the seals in the front of the trucfk and over the weekend it rained not very hard but steady for a few hours and I opened up the tail gate and YEP more water in the front of the truck bed inside. .....I want to ge the dealer to warranty the Extang and put on a G$ ELite Fold a cover to fix my problem.

My question to you guys is this: Does the folda cover g4 leak too? ANd if so, where does it leak and how much?

Any help would be appreciated.

I've not had any measurable water in the bed after a rain or wash. I have had some droplets come inside at the hing points if I fold it up while water is still on top of it.

Following up. So I have had the chance finally to see a lot the hard folding covers locally. The G4 should be installed this weekend...fathers day gift to myself.... :)

Everything about it is better from a locking stand point then most covers. It can be removed from the bed by the two front bolts on each side within 5 minutes which ShotgunZ71 pointed out. Key for my dirt bikes. No rails for drainage like Bakflip...which I have seen get bent by stuff in the bed..again dirt bikes. Overall it is built tough too, or feels stronger than I thought it would.

I think the Bakflip and others look brands sitting flush with the bed looks great but the G4 does not sit that high honestly.

I saw a G4 this weekend that went through the tough Colorado rains and tornado's we had and only a couple of drops of water in the bed which could have come when folding it up.

Overall very impressed and looking forward to using it.

Glad to hear it!

I have yet to find ANY water in my bed.

I don't think you will be disappointed.

Anyone here have the Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite with the drop in toolbox on a truck that has the TriFold steps? It looks like a ideal solution and I just wanted some input before I order a set. I cannot find anything equivalent in the market place. Suggestions?
