Finally installed my new stereo today. First time I've ever installed one on my own. Worked the first time thankfully.

Had to cut out some plastic under the dash so the unit would fit back in.

Good progress as usual! Is the sound deadening also being applied to the inside of the door panels? How about a vapor barrier?

Posted

Was considering adding it to the door panels, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. Never heard of a vapor barrier... What is that?

It's basically a plastic barrier that prevents humidity from entering the cabin but also blocks noise. I think that your front doors already have it but I'm not entirely sure.

Okay. Yea they already have it. It's laying in my garage until I get all the deadener put in, and then I'll put it back on. I also put it back on the other door after I was done.

So the new lower latch came today for the passenger side rear door. I put it on, and then finished up adding sound deadener.

Added some felt where the door panels arm rest bolts to the door to help keep from making noise.

Lookin good! What was wrong with the old battery tray? I ask because you still used the same old rusty bolts!

Posted

The old one was just rusted really bad. Bolts were fine just looked shitty. Didn't feel like going to the dealer for new ones lol!

Factory bolts are just too expensive anyways, should have taken them to the wire wheel then hit with some rustoleum gloss black. Painted my 02's frame with it [emoji106][emoji23]

How are you doing the carpet? Custom or pre-molded?
