cost for lease on a 2014 gm truck

Actually, a flease is a horrible way to buy a vehicle. Very few people that do the math end up leasing. If you plan to buy at the end, you really overpay but hey, it is your money.

Yeah if you plan to buy in the end yes its a very dumb move. But very few people that lease buy at the end. Again its all in the math and what you can afford long term and short term.

For Won_Hunglo and maybe Nards, ...and/or if monthly expenditure isn't an object, then I'd agree. Buy outright whenever possible. However, I've leased my last 2 trucks, because that's how they've fit me into the payment that I know I can handle. Leasing is a tool, and like any tool if you use it properly and understand the benefits and risks, you shouldn't shy away from Leasing.

You also still need to NEGOTIATE to make sure the price per month is in your range and don't let them push you into a larger payment that you can handle.

With that said, 2014 Chevy Silverado 4x4, V-6, 1500 LT, All Star package. 15,000 miles/yr at $350 a month on Lease for 39 months.

If I keep it, I'll pay appx. the same amount per month to buy it outright in the end (Based on my Appx. 23K payoff figure) for the next 5 years as well. If not, I let it go to someone else.

Would I prefer to buy it outright for 60 or 72 months? Yes. Can I handle that payment? No, not at this moment. Have I made sure that I've left myself in a position to positively impact my overall accounts despite the extended (8 years= 39 months plus 60 on a loan) payoff term? Yes I have, and that is what matters. Follow your gut, but use your head.

Like I said you have to do the math. If your into a new vehicle every 2-5 years then a least might be the way to go. Just simple math here. The truck I am leasing was 37 and some change. lease is 450 a month, for three years I pay them 14 grand and some change. If I bought it my payment would have been in the 550 for a 6 year loan. So 100 bucks more a month for 6 years. Now I would have had to put close to 10 grand down if I bought it in order to get my payment close to 450.

So if I lease for 6 years I would pay 14 grand for the first truck, factor in 20% cost increast for my next truck, I would over a six year period would pay roughly 31K for six years. Vs the 37k loan with tax and and interest that truck would have cost me probably 40-42k or so for 6 years of use. National average for keeping a vehicle is about 7 years, not many people that I know that keep trucks for mroe than 5- 7 years these days.

Again do the math. Buying outright can mean no payments somebody, and can mean lower payments with enough down. Problem is with the cost of new vehicles and the rate of exhange for new ones, buying outright is becoming hard to make the math worth.

SilverSilver and Imcrazy... would you both mind saying how much you put down at signing (either down payment or total out of pocket)?

Silver, it seems like you have the same truck I'm getting prices on and I'm also in the market for 15,000 miles per year. Could you share the MSRP of your truck and also the final price you agreed to? As you said, it's important to negotiate the cost of the vehicle as if you were buying it because that's what the lease price is based off of... and while I've leased a bunch of cars in the past, this is my first truck and I don't have any experience with how much the markup usually is. It seems like there's quite a bit of room for movement (anywhere from $5,000 to $8,000 and even more off of sticker). The cars I've leased have had a lot less negotiating room, so I don't want to look too naive and walk out having left money on the table.

And Imcrazy, you said you got supplier pricing on your SLE... how much did that take off in addition to the $3,500 in rebates you had?

Thanks!!

Sorry Primewin... I drove forever and went to Quirk in Quincy. They MAY have the biggest selection, but I wasn't in love with them or anything. Don't know about the mark up. Either way, I'd still say to leverage any prices you can find against any others on comparable trucks (For anyone else in the area who may be looking at them...) Did you end up buying?

I looked into a lease but can't justify paying almost 20K over three years to just give it back.

I agree plus you can only put 10,000 to 12,000 miles per year and or charged more. It is a lot of money to give up in three +/- years.

Actually additional miles cost very little if bought up front. My wifes car we got 45k miles over the 3 years and it cost another 7 or 8 bucks a month.

Leasing can be a good deal, I almost wish I had tried to go for 84 mo. buy on my truck but, it was very cheap $320 a month w/ no money down for 36 months vs 500 a month for 72 months on a buy. I was planning on buying a used truck for about 400 a month but, couldn't pass up the cheap payment on a 40k truck.

I got screwed! I've got a double cab Allstar package. After swapping out the crappy highway tires, installing running boards, and chrome trim package, I'm paying $448/month. 12k miles a year for 39 months, with $500 down.

Ouch, I'm paying $467/month for purchase (GMC SLE)

I don't see how it could be a dumb move if you get one at the price I got.I will be paying 9100 dollars over 3 years and with the 500 down that would be 9600.So if I was to buy a truck I would lose at least 5000 when I drove it off the lot.I have no maintenance to do what so ever for the first 2 years everything is free and the last year of the lease it might be brake pads.If I owned it what would it be worth after 3 years and 30,000 miles?
