Seeing these photos makes me want to smack some bean counters who either over priced (Chevrolet SSR) or mismanaged things(Pontiac) leading to their demise.

Really miss the Firebird variants.

But really good to see all the cars again.

The SSR was a disaster from the beginning. They used the Trailblazer chassis to make a sporty vehicle. And then it wasn't terribly sporty.

There was no function for the SSR. It was neither a useful truck nor competitive sports car. It was just cool, at least I thought it was.

But pushing $50 grand 10 years ago for cool was asking a lot.

Thinking Bob Lutz admitted to the pricing issue of both it & of course the GTO.

Did not mean to side track the photos.

What was the price of a new GTO? I always wondered why they never caught on. I guess this might be why?

Part of it was the appearance being a little bland & not cohesive with the original 60's design, but MSRP was close to $33-$34 grand. Think the only options were color, manual or auto & two wheels sizes.

Maybe someone that knows more will correct me if I am wrong there. But the target price Bob Lutz mentioned should have centered around $28-$29 thousand as a full retail price. Which would have got the avg. buyer into the dealership looking at a car below the $30,000 mark.

There was always rumor that even though they were cancelling the 2004-2006 generation. they had a new one coming for the 2008-09 model year. Have read it was for sure based on another Holden variant, but then it was also mentioned about building it state side & using the CTS platform. Does not matter now, gubermint killed all of that off. :banghead:

The collection is definitely GM-centric but there is a lot of cool/rare Euro stuff too.
