LOL...turn signal.

Lol I guess it is now that you say it, strange that it is placed within the oil pressure gauge.

ill get another video soon, EB tech is coming out next week to do some tweaking, not totally happy with the way the truck is shifting.

well its not just a thing of convenience, the fact is whatever the final tune is will be distributed with every Eforce kit they sell. in a way you might say I am doing some evaluation or testing of my own. since their goal is to make the truck drive and act like stock, based on my experience there are some things that need addressed. and I told them in my opinion it still is not quite meeting that goal.

so they are coming out to Colorado next week to do some more testing.

the question that cant be explained is because I did not drive the truck much in California, mostly highway driving I cannot say for sure if what its doing is due to my altitude or if they just never noticed it when they drove it.

don't ask me what the issue is, I am keeping it under wraps for the time being.. its not a big deal and one that I think some tweaking of the computer may resolve.

in a past life I was a computer software tester, it was my job to identify bugs and report them.

this is a similar situation.

Yes the truck is running better, from what I'm hearing, all the trucks that are boosted are having similar drivability issues but have not publicly mentioned anything about it.

But several of the folks in the know about this issue agree my truck drives better with the e Brock tune than any of the rest by a mile! My truck still isn't perfect but drivability wise it's the shifting and only the shifting between 50-70% throttle there is a mild cut/ surge as it shifts. The tech that came out was able to clean it up enough to make it tolerable. The truck drives good enough that they feel they are ready to release the kit to the public.

I know more info that I do not want to share as to the actual cause of the issue. I will only say it has to do with torque management built into the ecu. But they are confident with time they will be releasing updates for their customers when those tweaks become available.

They gave me the first SCT 4 programmer which I understand has a beta firmware for the E92 ECM so I can now flash my ECM with updates. We reloaded the stock GM tune, then successfully had the SC 4 read, store and re flash with the new e Brock tune without errors.

I can honestly say if your looking for boost look no further! I know for a fact anyone else's tune will have drivability problems. I know this because I know information about the E 92 ECM and the tuners compatible in particular HP tuners capability with that ECM. And the r&d that went into this kit. They drove my truck over 1000 miles and 3 solid weeks of testing to get it right. Or as close as it can be at this point.

The result now it that if your looking for perfection it's bit there, but the issues are for the most part minor and most people probably won't notice anything out of the ordinary when driving it.

The kit is solid, it transitions into boost so smooth that without a boost gauge you would never know it was boosting. The gear changes happen quickly and smoothly for 90% of your daily driving.

So far I've put the smack down on a modified Harley Davidson, a ford f-250 power stroke And played with a dodge charger srt 8 we didn't race, but from a light he couldn't shake me or put any distance between me and the back of his car up to 80 mph.

So if you want a truck that can talk the talk, walk the walk and play with the big boys, this mod is a must have!

If you live below 1000 feet asl you may want to buy a few extra tires whenever they go on sale!

The truck will make them sing at 1/2 throttle!

Also on a recent drive to Denver about 50 miles north of me I used to get 24+ mpg average on that trip. Last weekend I got 26 so I am pretty confident I have not lost any highway mpg to speak of. If I did, it's not noteworthy. The truck runs in 8cyl mode all the time. And if you wanted a little more power I know the weak link now is the 2-1 single 3" pipe and 3rd cat of the stock exhaust. If you went with a true dual setup I think you might find another 30 rwhp without changing anything else. That would put it close to 550 at the wheels.

I'm happy with it as is. What impressed me most is how little pedal it takes to get moving, passing everything next to me at every stoplight.

You will need to learn to drive with a much lighter touch from a stop as you may end up chirping tires a lot but it is manageable.

To be fair my sc Tacoma was the same way at lights.

Thanks for the feedback. Did edelbrock ask you to not share what is causing the issues? I'm slightly concerned and interested about the good enough for release part. Lol

Excellent report, thanks. What type of driving is the other 10% that's a problem?

it's when your at about 60-70% throttle and holding it steady, the shift itself is fine but the power changes slightly..

but in reality, this is a rare situation because if your in a street showoff from light to light likely you'll be under WOT. I find less than 35% throttle is way more than needed for driving anyplace to include highway.

its not like you can't drive, at 70% throttle, you'll probably encounter 1 and possibly 2 shifts but by then your well above the speed limit anyway.

so it doesn't come up very often.

when it does happen, it's nothing violent, it just feels like a pause and a push. dropping a little power, adding it back with a little more and then back to normal. over the span of about 1.5-2 seconds starting just before and a little after the shift.

but I want to express it is MINOR and did not do this at sealevel. only noticed it at elevation.

edelbrock did not come out and tell me I couldn't share but there were many things that were shared with me that are speculation. the general discussion pertained to what is known about the E92 ECM. there are a lot of things still not known about the ECM and how it works. As it was told to me, what is known and what is not known the information is not mine to share. since I don't know enough about what the exact cause is I don't feel it's my place to share information that I know is not accurate. I don't want to start rumors.

what I will say is that I am confident that in time the fine details will be worked out. edelbrock is committed to getting the best kit to market, they put a lot of time and money into this and having met their team I feel they are all dedicated to achieving that goal.

but I want to emphasize that I feel the kit is ready to be released, you should not hesitate or be concerned with anything. likely where you live it will run perfect. They feel my issue is isolated due to the elevation I live at, (6500 feet)

because I don't know the intricacies of the ECM and how the torque based system works, I am in no position to speculate about anything.

I know they want to make it perfect and they are still working with me to accomplish that goal.

I am a straight up guy and I know a lot of you have been watching this thread looking for answers. so I have shared exactly my experience and my opinions and my observations so there is no misconceptions.

the kit is pretty awesome, it will blow your mind and IMO it is better then any other kit available right now for several reasons already mentioned in this thread.

I've talked to others that have had a competitors kit installed on a 6.2 and they have told me their problems are SIGNIFICANTLY worse than mine. in some cases so bad the vehicle sounds nearly un-drivable.

I will not disclose names but I can say that some very well known and respected names of people in this industry have driven my truck and verified the edelbrock tune is by far the best tune currently available.

beyond the tune, They also have the best kit, the best intercooler and the best power with the least amount of boost. I believe they also have the lowest priced plug and play supercharger system on the market.

I took 3 sales people for a ride last Saturday at the dealer I bought it from and they couldn't stop laughing and chuckling every time I got on the gas and passed cars on the highway.

the truck is a beast, it literally drives like a sports car with the attitude of a truck and the suspension to match.

I have a hellwig rear anti sway and 20" wheels with V rated rubber. my truck can take the turns with the best of them. I don't have a trailer to haul anything with it, but I guarantee if towing is your thing, or if showing off is what you like to do then this is the best mod money can buy!

no truck will behave exactly like stock when you add almost 200 hp to the engine, it will have a much more sensitive gas pedal but beyond that it drives like stock in every aspect except the little issues that need worked out and you encounter them fairly infrequently as it is now. but the sales people commented how amazing it was in still retaining the excellent drivability.

but when you get on the boost, it has serious attitude. based on my altitude I would guess at sealevel it is a 13.75sec 1/4 mile truck assuming you can get traction for it.

I don't know how car and driver got 14.1 secs out of a stock one. they would have had to have excellent track prep and running in 2wd with traction control turned off (which has a lot less torque management in it)

if the same was repeated with the SC it would easily be low 13 secs in the 1/4 mile as it shaved more then 1 sec of my 1/4 mile and 0-60 times.

I think the area that impresses me most is highway driving, where you don't have traction issues, it kicks down to 2nd or 3rd gear and just gets flat out PISSED OFF and before you know it, your bouncing off the speed limiter at 110 mph.

passing cars becomes a joy! but there is a price at the gas pump for sure..

sorry if I missed it in the 17 pages. Did they do anything to the tranny or are you still stock? can the tranny handle 550whp? and how long do you expect it to last? if you already answered I apologize your story sounds amazing i wish you were in FL

no one has indicated the trans wasn't up to the task at edelbrock and frankly I am not concerned with it as I am getting the 5 year 100k mile drive train warranty from edelbrock to replace the Gm warranty. so if it fails, its not my concern other than the down time.

the trans has 2500 worth of coverage 1500 for the rear end and 12,000 for the engine itself.

on a side note I've been told by my local tuner they have put over 600 hp and tq through the 6l80E without issue on many cars and trucks. someone else told me it was bullet proof.

a poster on the performance trucks.net is pushing 1000 hp on the same trans without any problems.

at my altitude, I've just made up for the differences between here and sea level with the SC and maybe a 20% gain. so my trans is feeling about 20% more than at sea level. I am not worried about it at all.

    • Monthly payment is only part of the equation. With today's prices and interest rates, I'd look at the total monthly cost: payment, insurance, registration, fuel, maintenance, and expected repairs. A vehicle that fits comfortably into your budget is usually the better choice than stretching for a higher trim. I've also kept my vehicles longer over the past few years. New cars have gotten expensive enough that driving one for 10+ years, while staying on top of maintenance, often ends up being the most cost-effective approach.
    • 10 Ford and Chevy engines proven to reach 300,000 miles   You may note a common 3K OCI on this list of gas motors. I skipped over the diesels. Dh'O.
    • Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
    • apparently CA smog is (or at least was)  checking that the vehicle is using the oem and/or a ca smog approved tune, so I expect you'll fail inspection doing it.
    • yes, leaking exhaust will mess up o2 sensor readings, which in turn messes up fuel trims.
