White Diamond Tricoat Residue Issue

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2014 Silverado White Diamond Tricoat.
Every so often I look and there is a residue that is hard to see which looks like dirt but will only come off with laquer or strong solvent. I started noticing after the car wash when I thought there was dirt still on the paint. It has been in different spots by the doors and tailgate.

Anyone having this issue?

I live in FL

First thing I do with any new vehicle, wash it and then clay bar it, then put a good coat of wax on it.

Don't use solvent. Go to parts store and get a clay bar and wax the truck. I highly reccomend Adams Polishes and detail products. Check them out. www.adamspolishes.com

Can you get pictures? Clay bar would be the first step... then polish with Meguiars 105/205 if necessary. Don't use any solvents or lacquer thinner! It will ruin the clearcoat finish.

Was this on the paint when you bought the truck?

Dirt, salt, pollution, and all kinds of other particulates are in the air. They are constantly falling on the surface. They become imbedded/attached.

Does it look like dried up water spots, sometimes they can be really hard to take off.

Its not single circular drops tho...more like a area of it.

I didnt see it on the truck when I bought it. It comes and goes as I clean it and it comes back in differ areas

I had it waxed and it still came back?? I didnt use a clay bar tho?

The car wash guys are who used the solvent to get it off...not sure if it was strong solvent or not but I could smell it so I assumed some kind of laquer

OK, that looks like glue or some other sticky substance.

If you've never used claybar, it's very easy to use. Just be sure to cut into 4 pieces and store the other 3. (in case you drop one on the floor, you haven't ruined the whole thing!) :)

(I uploaded the picture for you...)
