Good morning everyone,

I have been a loyal GM owner for along time, I have just sold my 2007 GMC 2500HD (116218 miles)and my 2009 Chevy 1500 (92,800 miles )both 4x4 Z71 fully loaded and I bought a 2014 Chevy 1500 DBL. Cab 4x4 Z71, I never had any trouble with my other trucks, Ran solid and everything worked as was supposed to.

But with my 2014 1500 I have had trouble with the my link radio screen going dark and not coming back up while driving. Even if I shut the truck off and turn it back on, It stays dark. Only way to use the radio is thru the dashboard. Dealer has had the truck more than I have trying to figure this out. The truck only has 300 miles on it. Now I hear there is a recall on the 2014 1500's with 4X4 transmission , I am starting to think maybe I should have bought a new ford truck.

P.S. I also own a 2014 Camaro RS and love it.

welcome to the forum. Unfortunately it seems like the first year out of most newer vehicles have some issues. My 14 sierra does have a screen black out from time to time but, never has lasted more than a minute. I had the transmission recall check on mine 4.3L 4x4 and it was fine with no correction required.

Enjoy the truck.

Hello Hmbuilder2,

I can certainly understand your frustration, you do not expect problems when purchasing a new vehicle. I would be happy to look further into this by reaching out to your dealership for more information and documenting this concern in our system. If you'd like my assistance, please send me a private message with your contact information an VIN. I hope to hear from you soon

Sounds like pretty minor issues to already be disappointed in the vehicle. I'm sure the dealer will change out the radio if necessary and they will perform the recall if needed while its there as well.

Everyone is different, but if my problem was just the fancy radio, I'll be really happy. I think GM allocated all resources to radios, mpg, sensors, etc, and ran out of resources to the basics...

That would be really frustrating but it sounds like it is a fluke with your truck. Hopefully you have a good dealer that will make it right fast. Hit up the online cusotmer service rep here too. They can get results if the dealer is not making it right.

Hi Andraya I have a question for you. I have had the same issue with the navigation unit crashing on me and was wondering if there is a way to report any bugs or errors that we run into. I am a developer myself so I know exactly what caused my unit to crash and I would like to report it so when they release an update it can take care of the bug. If you could let me know that would be awesome. And for everybody who is having an issue with their unit crashing know that it can be fixed. Its just a bug in the software.

Hi jfulton,

Yes, we do have a team that is focused on documenting vehicle concerns that customers bring to our attention, for the appropriate departments. You are welcome to send me a private message here on the site with your contact information, VIN and details about the concern. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

Welcome.

I remember the days when one bought a new car for one reason: to enjoy the first few trouble free years.

The argument against a used car was like: "...you never know how the previous owner threaded the car..."

We still don't know for sure how a used car was handled before. But with the issues on all the new cars and trucks it is almost better to buy used from production years when the manufactures still took pride in their product.

Nowadays it seems like they just throw the parts on it to get it into the sales room. "Let's deal with the f*ck ups when the time comes...or not...".

Sad.

Sorry to hear about your radio problem but they will get it fixed. I know it sucks to get something new and have it be less than perfect but these things are made by humans and never will be perfect all the time. It will work out andyou will love it.

I have the same issue. The dealer changed some wire which seemed to work for a couple months and then the problem came back. My service rep told me that GM Tech support said the replacement wire (which GM sent to the dealer) was most likely also bad and needs to be changed again. The service rep said quote "between you and me I don't think it's the wire I think we need to replace your entire MyLink screen but GM won't approve that repair until we change this wire a second time." Overall the dealer has been nice and has been giving me loaner vehicles when I bring the truck in so I can't complain but so much. Plus this is all on GM's dime so if they want to waste money going through this process, I'll be glad to humor them. I still haven't gone back for the 2nd replacement wire. My screen is on and working at the moment and I called the dealer yesterday and they did not have the new wire in yet.

Sorry you are having problems with your vehicle, I have had mine back to the dealer over ten times for different problems and recalls( I have lost count after ten) the dealer has gives me a loner when the repairs are going to take more than a day but every time I take it back to the dealer it costs me in gas and time. I have a good friend looking to buy a new car, I told him that I could not recommended a GM vehicle(I have been driving them since the early 70's). With all of the recalls I do not believe GM is serious about the quality of its products when they leave the assembly plant.
