Happy with my mpg over the weekend.

Went camping this weekend. Road consisted of lots of hills and 60-70mph speeds.

The pic below is once I got out of the mountains and was back onto flat lands.CAM00579_zps3f3bcd57.jpg

The next pic is when I was pulling onto my street where my house is at. Notice miles and where the gas gauge is at. Could not believe I got this great of mileage! I enjoy the heck out of this truck. It's hard to see the average mpg in the second pic. It was 24.3 mpg average.

Amazing! And it will probably get better with age. Yup... love my truck - wouldn't trade it for anything!

I wish I had the opportunity to take it out on the highway more often. But almost 80% of my driving is around town. Still get impressive mileage tho between 17-18

I'm extremely pleased with the mpg I have been getting in my truck. I'm saving a good $50 a month in fuel compared to what I used to drive.

Yup... same here. I can live with 17-18 in town!

Is it the 5.3 motor?

OP says his truck is an SLE from his avatar info. So I am gonna go ahead and say yes. Since the 6.2 is only available on the SLT and Denali packages.

I get that good with my 5.3L 3.42 on the highway. Just haven't taken a long trip with it yet. All my driving is mixed so far.

Well it could be the 4.3 since he is getting that good of gas mileage

No, I have the 5.3. I won't ever drive a 6 banger in a truck.

Good point. But the 5.3 is def capable of those numbers.

There must be more stop and go areas in my town because I only average between 15-16 mpg in town. I did average 20 mpg going to south carolina a week ago which was mostly flat terrain driving down I-95 for 6.5 hours, 3 passengers and some weight in the bed. I was pushing 75-80mph the entire trip. If I had slowed down to about 65 I would have gotten more like 22 or 23 mpg. Agreed the fuel economy on these trucks is incredible.
