Does your 2014 do this?

More half-truths from GM, we were promised the app store and all of the customizable features would work with the MyLink system on our 2014 when we purchased it.

The report goes on to state that “MyLink was intended to be a way for GM to bring a variety of third-party services to its 2015 cars, including apps from NPR, map service Glympse, Pandora, Slacker Radio, and others.”

That article mentions nothing of the 2014’s only the 2015 and is an attempt to sweep the GM lies under the rug.

I would recommend contacting your local Lemon Law representatives.

I am unfamiliar with California law, but I have worked directly for TXDOT (Texas Department Of Transportation).....for the Consumer Affairs unit of the Motor Vehicle Division. I worked on the legal software for Lemon Law.

I know firsthand how Lemon Law works (in Texas) and even have a very good friend that is one of the two certified (ASE) mechanics here in Texas that go to trial for Lemon Law on behalf of the state.

It does sound like you have a case and I am pretty sure GM would have bought it back in full, had you approached it through your local Lemon Law.

This entire thread was very disappointing to read. It's even more disappointing to see these disenchanted GM fanboys on here trying to blame the hardworking guy who spent $50k for a mountain of GM headache.

LOL.................If your "story" about working for the customer affairs division for motor vehicles, you should know exactly what to do about your issue with the green valve stem caps you were whining about in the other thread you started.

This guy and everything he says is bulls**t, plain and simple.

I am not returning my truck. Its not defective, Justin, you genius. You must be one of the ones I was referring to in my last post?

I dont have anything to hide or lie about, fanboy. I am a grown ass man that pays for this truck by working hard. Dont be mad at me because you drive a 7 year old truck or have inferiority issues. I am here to get advice and share advice, pertaining to my 2014 Silverado, which in my opinion, IS a piece of junk.

Well I will state I have a 2014 silverado, and have not had any issues at all like yours, but if I do and the dealer gives me the run around let's just say it might take a long trip and never come back.

You can go to any other forum and find the same ole crap about dodge or ford or whoever. Lemons are lemons. every brand has them. I personally have not had a single issue with my 14. I know 4 other people that have a 14 and a few more that have 15s and have never heard a single complaint. These are people I communicate with on an almost daily basis. It is what it is. Every manufacturer has its lemon issues. If they didn't Lemon Laws and buy backs wouldn't exist.

Is it true that in Texas if the dealer gives a loaner vehicle for warranty work that those trips do NOT count towards the 4 days required for the Texas Lemon law?

Thanks

I have a 2015 5.3 4wd z71 with 2200 miles and I am having the same problems you mentioned on numbers 6 & 7 , did they end up resolving at least those two problems?

I am hoping they did, if they did not how did you get them to acknowledge that they were a problem ?

Thanks.

This will be a multi-part posting with the issue logs to follow. It's so large we can't post it all at once.

Current Mileage: 13,500
Outstanding Recall: N140192 6-26-14 Incomplete
Our truck has been to the dealer for the following problems with no fix in sight:
1. Gas mileage dropping down to between 10 to 14mpg on the freeway. We were originally in the low to mid 20’s before the first remote start safety recall was preformed.
2. Radio not working, constant system errors, and screen going black at random.
3. Mylink system not working correctly, won’t take a voice command & shows error message, backup camera coming on and going black while in drive shows error message, Lane departure not working/detecting drivers side lines, & constant other random computer system errors.
4. Driver’s seat feels loose at mounting brackets while driving.
5. Heated/cooled seats not cooling. Service supervisor confirmed it – yet not repaired.
6. Transmission not shifting correctly misses gears; slips & “clunks” from powertrain; won’t disengage from engine properly when braking.
7. Engine misses/stalls when making sharp turns at random: fails to accelerate when merging into oncoming freeway traffic or turning out of parking lots.
We have had this truck into the dealer for repair three times and this last time they kept it over a week. The odd thing is they drove it 46 miles while they had it and used over half a tank of gas yet still said that gas mileage is fine. The only thing that has been correctly repaired was a panel under the steering column which was constantly rattling.
We have been able to replicate some of the MyLink/computer/radio errors with the mechanic in the truck but we get told it’s working as intended. The main response from the dealer is “No codes” so it didn’t happen, can’t fix it.
What’s it going to take to get this truck repaired? Do we seriously need to put our lives in danger every time we merge out into traffic? Is the engine transmission going to lock up and push us into the car in front of us when we try to stop or are we going to pull out into traffic only to stall out and get hit by a semi? The engine/transmissions/computer issues with this truck pose a serious safety risk so we started to log all the problems each day as they happen. We hope this might help someone else that is having the same problems.
The sad thing about all of this is that we thought GM nailed this K series truck. It had the looks, the quietest cabin, smoothest ride, best looking leather interior/dash layout, great gas mileage, remote starts, and a new MyLink computer system that integrated with all our mobile devices but at this point we would have felt much safer if we just kept our 2002 Z71 Avalanche. This was our 4th new GM vehicle over the years and it could very well be the last GM purchase we ever make.

No, the problems the truck had were never sorted out. We had multiple dealers flat out refusing to take it in for repair stating that GM doesn’t pay them to “diagnose” warranty problems (no codes, can’t fix it). After countless phone calls GM ended up buying it back as a lemon. GM didn’t fully reimburse us for the vehicle and we ended up taking a sizeable loss on it. We had always been loyal GM people up until then, but after this nightmare and the crappy way GM handled the buyback screwing us over in the process, we will NEVER buy another GM vehicle.

Thanks for the reply 2014LTZ-Z71

10/6/2015 - While driving home from work, I am able to replicate the clunk and hard shift. Driving at approx 40-45mph, the truck hesitates to speed up to 50-55mph. A few seconds after shuddering, the transmission will then downshift into 5th or 4th gear and finally speed up. When the transmission goes back into 6th gear there is a major clunk loud enough to hear and feel in the cabin.

Will be taking the truck in for service next week because that is their earliest appointment

The fact you have the issues and havent had your truck replaced is all you, not anyone else. My main amigo, on his first 2014 Silverado, had a seat issue, claimed it would sway side to side when hitting the expansion joints, between the highway and bridge, when hitting pot holes, etc. I think you mentioned that. He started the complaint process. Dealer looked at it, could not replicate. Regional rep involved, he could not drive it and replicate. Had another technician look at, could not replicate. GM regional rep involved, could not duplicate. GM tech flown in from Michigan (I believe), could not replicate.

But he stuck with it, contacted the free lemon law lawyers, and a few weeks later they bought his truck back and gave him an additional 5K towards another one. He bought a second 2014 1500, and traded that in on a 2015 Silveardo Diesel.

My point in all of this was he had his truck replaced and received a credit. For an issue NO ONE including myself and national GM technicans could replicate. Yet here you are with a novel of issues, and yet all you've achieved is posting here.

Get a lawyer. There are likely free lemon law resources available to you. You don't have to settle for 'GM buying the truck back at an unacceptable price.'

Just get the lawyer and post back when you have results. I know you've been having issues for a while because you liked one of my posts almost a year ago about issues with MyLink. I want nothing but success for you, but you need to cut to the chase and get involved legally. Sadly, that is the only way to get things done nowadays.

So you let one vehicle with bugs change your entire opinion after "being a GM person"? Sounds like you're just looking for reason to switch, personally. I'm a GM guy and would be hard pressed to turn on them over 1 vehicle. Especially after owning multiple vehicles over the years, that I enjoyed thoroughly.

And your sealer sucks. Go somewhere else. You're not required to have your vehicle serviced at any specific dealership. Go somewhere else. Sounds like they have parts changers, not World Class technicians.

You obviously didn't read this thread completely or our other posts. This vehicle was repurchased by GM over a year ago at our loss. The way GM and the local dealers handled the issues is completely unacceptable to us and is the sole reason why we will not repurchase another GM.

As far as taking it to a different dealer, if you would've read the posts we did, three different dealers total. Two of the dealers flat out told us to take it somewhere else because GM does not pay them to diagnose our problems under warranty. If there's no error code in the system then the problem doesn't officially exist to GM even though it could be verified with a mechanic ride along or videotape footage.

This dealer refusal to repair our truck happened while there were current outstanding factory safety recalls on the vehicle. The GM dealers near us wouldn't even let us drop it off for the safety recall repairs because of the other issues with it. They wanted NOTHING to do with it after they were made aware of the problems it had. We were forced to get GM involved so we could at least take it to a third dealer that they set up in advance to do the safety recalls. Again, this truck was repurchased by GM but to our financial loss.
