Does your 2014 do this?

And the log is still going.......

Take a look at the last entry for today 7-2-14. Its the first time we noticed that happening at the same time as a weird glitch.

In a previous post one of the members here pointed out that it may be a grounding problem. The dealers mechanic checked for that on the last repair attempt and said it all checked out ok.

7-1-14 Both driver and passenger cooled seats would not get cool even after being on for over 30 minutes. Passenger’s seat back (not bottom) started getting warmer!

7-1-14 Placed an outgoing phone call and the drivers display along with the main display screen changed to show the radio info (not phone/Bluetooth) even though the Bluetooth was active. The sound from the phone call was coming out all the radio speakers but we could not end the call with the truck controls on the steering wheel and had to end the call using the phone.

7-1-14 More loud snaps and pops coming from the dash area while driving.

7-1-14 Engine hesitation or transmission slippage again but this time it was a lot of small short jerking/slippage. (Felt like on/off light ABS braking, but while accelerating.)It only happened once from 0 to 30mph before going back to normal.

7-2-14 System would not take voice commands, error popped up on the driver’s display “Selected language does not Support Speech Recognition”. The voice system would not work for about 5 minutes after the error.

7-2-14 The in dash A/C was “ON” but NOT set to the “auto” setting, the fan was set to low but suddenly it started blowing air at the max fan speed all by itself. I quickly checked the controls and the “auto” light was not lit up so I checked the dash gauges for any warning lights but none were present. I did notice the voltage gauge had spiked out of the normal range to about 17+ volts at that same time. About 5 minutes later the volts dropped down to just barely 12v almost if not undercharging and stayed there.

WOW, I would have a hammer next to me at all time in case it catches fire and the doors stay locked.

If our truck was red it would be named “Christine”.

One of the dealer’s mechanic's described it this way:

“You're lead to believe you are in control of these new trucks, you’re not. You can press on the throttle or the brake as much as you want, but , they won’t do what you want until they are ready to do it.”

...and the problems continue with no reply from GM. Currently at 12.3Mpg and it's mostly freeway!

7-3-14 rounded a freeway on ramp (turning right) and came to a full metered stop before merging on freeway, and then a loud clunk came from drivetrain.

7-3-14 snap and popping sounds from the dash again.

7-3-14 drivers seat rocking again like the mounting brackets are loose.

7-3-14 driver’s seat was on cool for over 30 minutes and did not cool.

7-3-14 voice recognition commands not working properly- system was just randomly pulling names off of contact list which were not even close to the contact asked for. Had to give up and dial by giving the system the phone number directly on the touch screen.

7-3-14 I was in a phone call on the Bluetooth and parked the truck, turned off truck, removed the keys from the ignition, and opened driver’s door to exit and the MyLink phone system screen in dash remained on and would not turn off. I had to get back in and then tried to end the call I was still in on the touch screen and it would not switch it over to the phone. Even after exiting the vehicle a second time with no keys in the ignition and ending the call on the phone itself manually the display screen in the truck stayed on! Had to get back in and restart the truck, then turn it back off a second time to get the main display screen to turn off.

7-3-14 A/C in dash was set to high fan speed and NOT set to auto and both sides were set to the same temperature, it switched itself to low and no buttons were pressed. At that same time of that glitch the radio quit working. The AM, FM, and HD channels all disconnected. Parked and turned off truck for 10 minutes. After it was restarted everything worked like normal.

7-4-14 A/C fan in dash was set to high and the A/C was on (NOT on Auto settings) and while driving it turned itself to the lowest fan speed. Had to turn the A/C off fully and then back on to get it to clear itself and work correctly (did not turn off truck).

7-5-14 Severe miss/hesitation/jerking lasted for over a mile of driving. Turned right out of a parking lot and the engine started doing what seemed to be a low on fuel type miss/hesitation, and then we turned right again 100 yards later and it continued to get worse until we were able to get it home about a mile away. The more throttle it was given the worse it became. No dash warning lights. It was not low on fuel - gauge was at ¼ tank at the time.

Wow no wonder your truck runs like it does when mechanics say stuff like this... “You're lead to believe you are in control of these new trucks, you’re not. You can press on the throttle or the brake as much as you want, but , they won’t do what you want until they are ready to do it.”

I understand the throttle as they have torque management programmed in. However the brakes better be damn well ready to work when I want to use them!!

All, I can say is, "Talk it cheap." Anyone can say they have issues with out any backing of it and many do. If it was me I would have GoPro cameras all over the truck recording all of the issues. Then you can use that to get things handled much faster. GoPro's aren't that expensive and can be set up in almost any position. Other cameras could work also, but get video. Good Luck.

No need for video when I have 3 witnesses with me almost every time something happens. We’ve been taking pictures of the gauges and radio display screens when the errors pop up as long as it is safe for us to do so at the time of the errors/problem.

The list gets bigger.

7-6-14 Engine miss or transmission slipping (still can't tell which - no warning lights) when turning right out on to a main street and it lasted about 20 seconds while under acceleration.

7-6-14 Tried the cooled seats again but they did not get cold even after 15 minutes set on high.

*7-6-14 A first time for this problem: The in dash A/C would not get cool even set to high fan speed and temp set to low. Checked both knobs and settings, everything was normal but noticed that the radio display was reading an outside temp of 88.0??! The outside temperature at that time was 102.0+. I then checked a weather app on my Iphone which also showed 102.0, next checked the weather feature app on the radio and it showed the forecast at the time as 102.0 for my location and yet just above that the trucks computer display was reading it was only 88.0. The A/C was blowing warm air out the vents set on low so I returned home. I checked an outdoor thermometer and it was also reading 102.0 in the shade. Returned to the truck and started it back up and the temp display on the top of the radio was still reading at 88.0 - No change. Pictures taken of the errors on the display and outdoor thermometer.

video is a pretty solid witness and can be mounted prior to driving making it always safe, but okay, good luck.

This is one of those trade it in at the local Toyota dealership for a Tundra and not look back situations... or Ford, or Dodge (not Nissan).

No, this is one of those video the problems, yes you need video. Video doesn't lie, put it up all over the internet, get your local news stations involved and hammer GM until they buy the piece of crap back. You need to be calling them everyday, annoy them until they do something about it.

I don't agree that it SHOULD BE a necessity to video. I have taken video of issues to a dealership and I even have one on YouTube right now and will be flooding YouTube with my radio reception issues until GM issues a fix - my dealer will just send me home stating they cannot replicate the issue. Will anyone view these videos and car? I don't know, but it's my way of logging the situation. This daily detail log is the OP's way of logging the situation and it is a good approach. The principle that a single customer should be getting enough diagnostic attention by a dealership to address or at least believably explain these issues instead of being pushed away is being violated. This guy is trying to log every situation where these things occur and is doing so in probably a legally-admissible way. He may not be financially sound enough to be buying multiple cameras to mount throughout his vehicle. It may be he lives in a rough neighborhood and doesn't want his truck to be broken into. It may be that he wouldn't have the slightest clue how to cut the video once something has been recorded. To me video-ing a situation is easy. I have always-on dash cams pointing forward out the windshield on every vehicle I have. I can just turn that or dismount it and record something happening - done. I have a Go Pro, too, but it was a $250 kit! I have a iPhone and a camera that'll record video but I run the risk of getting a ticket if seen using these items and that's just what I need to be dealing with.

The OP should try to video things, yes. That'd be ideal. But again, I have video-ed things and the dealership refused to look at it or looked at it and said it wasn't enough information or that they would need the manufacturer to approve work based upon a video or blah blah blah and usually that they'd still have to replicate it themselves. We're stuck going through a profit, not diagnostics, oriented dealership for repairs.

Anyway, if his truck is truly doing what is being described here and it is not just dissatisfaction with the truck in general and thus little things that normally would not be noticed by a satisfied customer are perceived as serious, and the dealership(s) in his area are just sending him home despite, like you said he should, the OP trying to work with them and prove the issues with ride alongs or whatever, and if lemon-law is not going to work or isn't even available... then he has the option to just dump it and try another brand or a replacement truck. I chose to do it with a Mercedes CLA 250... I did it... and I'm so much happier as a result. The stress, the time away from work and getting the stink eye from the boss when I finally got in, and the constant frustration and distraction aren't welcome and my time and health is valuable. Did I take a financial hit... yes (though luckily not bad and actually was real close to break even). Did Mercedes notice the loss of a customer? Doubt it. Unless they track me over time and realize they aren't getting ANY of my money ever...

Yeah I get it that he could be faking it or exaggerating. I get it that some people on a forum can't really help him and that he needs to help himself. Nevertheless, he's getting these issues public in his way, he's trying to get a resolution, and it sounds like... he's being sent home. Video or not... that's some bull.

We are doing something about it by giving GM another chance to make it right. They have contacted our dealer and are reviewing the records. We should have a resolution to this very soon one way or another.

We love this truck (if it worked correctly), but hate all the blatant recurring problems.

Are the issues made up or do we just dislike truck? No.

Is it a lemon? Could be.

Can all the problems be recreated? Yes, but its random.

Are some of the problems a serious safety risk? Yes.

We didn’t spend over $50K for a truck that only works correctly sometimes.

No one should ever have to deal with a jerry-rigged drivability workaround. We are not going to drive it in tow/haul mode without a load just to get the ECM/TCM shift issues to stop. We are not going to drive it around in “M” mode with without a load or trailer and shift it ourselves to override a faulty computer system. We paid for a truck that could be put in drive and be “driven” without issues or safety concerns.

We paid for a truck that was supposed to get 22mpg on the highway but it currently gets 11.9mpg.

We paid for a truck that shifts between V8 and V4 to save fuel not one stuck in V8 all the time.

We paid for a fully working AM/FM radio with HD and XM but it only plays music sometimes.

We paid for a Bose system but instead we have speakers you can’t adjust tone and ones in the rear that hardly work.

We paid for working backlights on all of our dash knobs but only half of them light up.

We paid for a dash light dimmer not one that randomly turns off all your dash displays in bright sunlight.

We paid for a fully working Bluetooth MyLink system but it only works when it wants to.

We paid for a fully working navigation system but we have one that the screen goes randomly blank.

We paid for cooled seats but we have ones that only work about a 10% of the time.

We paid for adjustable seats but we have ones that feel like they are going to come unbolted when you stop.

We paid for a working backup camera system but have one that turns on while in drive then goes black.

We paid for a lane departure system that works on the left & right side but ours only detects lines on the right.

We paid for a 6speed transmission for smooth automatic shifts but instead we get loud bangs, clunks and missed/slipped gears with hesitation that is a safety risk when merging into traffic.

We paid for a dashboard that was made of quality materials but ended up with something that makes loud crack sounds like rocks hitting the windshield while we are driving.

We paid for a quality, finished, tested, and safe product from GM but it seems like we ended up with an engineer’s unfinished project that was pushed through production before it was ready to go.

The list continued:

7-7-14 Radio did not work from truck start up. Tried AM, FM, HD, and XM nothing would play. Turned off the radio completely by holding down the main power button until the unit turned off, turned the radio back on and it still would not search for or play any stations. The main display showed all our pre programmed buttons and stations but would not play anything. The radio did not work again until our next trip in the truck on 7-8-14.

7-8-14 No Problems.

7-9-14 The My-Link radio booted up to the phone menu and was stuck there for 5 minutes after first start of the day. Touch screen and drivers controls were unresponsive for the My-Link/radio. After 5 minutes, pressed the "radio icon" on the top of the touchscreen and it switched to the NAV display screen. Pressed the "radio icon" again on the touch screen and this time it switched to the radio display and started playing audio right away.

7-9-14 Cooled seats would not cool.
