Passenger Carpet Soaked Underneath Floormat

Believe it or not, I had the same problem and it turned out to be the seal around my 3rd brake light.. When ever it would rain it would travel all the way to the front and soak the passenger floor. That was on a 2001 Silverado but still something to check.

This is very possible . My 2007 did the exact same thing. Water runs in and down to the front. The leak is easy enough to fix, but no matter how much vacuuming and shampooing is done I can not stress the possibility of mold. I have Asthma ,and could not figure out why I kept getting very sick. If you even THINK you might notice a little musty smell, make em fix it. My carpet and floor were horrible and you could hardly notice. Even the dealer was shocked when they pulled the carpet back. Good news is ,they replaced the carpet and cleaned every thing up very well. Best of luck.

So after months of chasing this issue because dealer doesn't give a s*** about helping solve my issues I found after taking off the wiper arms and cowl there is an access panel above the fresh air inlet. Water was getting underneath the cracked weld and down into the fresh air duct and down stream to passenger foot well from there. Siliconed around the cracked we'd and all fixed.

Congrats on finding the fix. You should take it to the dealer and rub the lead techs nose in that weld IMO and then make them properly replace it.

Abso-f*****g-lutely! Make sure his manager witnesses this too.

^ What he said. Glad to know the leak was found. I believe I would have to push the dealer for a warranty fix.

I had found similar leaks on older cars before. I had a 1983 Mercedes that has a small rust hole in the water draining channel under the windshield wiper linkage. Water was pooling on the driver's carpet, soaking it. Some undercoating brushed over the small hole fixed the problem for good.

I'd go back to the dealer and have them replace the carpet. Mold stinks.

Mold is DEADLY. I have Asthma. Almost found this out the hard way. Have 'em rip all the carpet and underlay out. They did my 2007. It may take years for problems to show up.
