I hope that GM has corrected the issue on 2016's, but the following post from another website suggests otherwise:

"Vehicle has a terrible vibration. Has been to dealer 7 times, for a total of 4 weeks. A GM engineer has looked at it twice. They have replaced ring/pinion, driveshaft, axle.. tried it with 4 sets of tires/wheels. Last idea was to replace shocks, struts, sway bars with hand built parts, cut brackets off car and weld new brackets on. When liability was brought up, they changed their story. There is a larger issue as was relayed by engineer to service manager at dealership. Issue is with all 2015 Tahoe, Yukon, escalades. In an effort to prevent roll overs, they designed the frame and body mounts too stiff. There are 40 engineers working on issues, they have no solutions that work across the board. According to engineer, GM is keeping an eye on how many units they have to buy back, or trade for... if number is low enough, they will not make any changes to design. I would like to schedule a meeting next week to discuss this issue and the larger issue in person. Since they are refusing to buy back my vehicle, I am turning matter over to attorney."

There are numerous posts on this site about vibration and buffeting noises. And, no resolution. Same old same old. I believe this persons post. I don't doubt GM is working on it and can't find a simple solution. Making a design change is challenging enough. Fixing existing vehicle will be almost impossible. Bad news if it's true.

Wrench..... That post is on a 2016? Seven service visits and a month in the shop? We're the 2016 even available that long ago? What website is that from?

I need to go this week and drive a new Yukon and Escalade. I really don't know what we are going to get when this LEMON Escalade gets returned ???

So, as of today GM has agreed to buy back our 2015i under the California Lemon laws. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh what do get now ? Any reports of new 2016's having these issues resolved?

A new Land Rover maybe ? New Navigator still looks just ok. The Datsun is Ugly...... Oh GM, why cant you make a SUV that actually works ?

Glad to hear they are going to buy you out. But, not sure if that's all that great either....like you said, now what are you going to buy? Nothing comes close to a Yukon XL or a Suburban for people and cargo capacity, other then a Safari van maybe! None of the other SUVs come close. Maybe the Mercedes van! With a diesel might not be a bad ride!

Seriously, the Long version of he Ford is the only thing remotely close, but not nearly as nice. Unless you have the shorter Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade. Then, lots of choices. No IDE if they have issues though. Better do some due diligence and get on the forums. As we've all learned the hard way, a test drive at the dealership doesn't tell you much!

Good luck.

Looks like that post was from November 5, 2014 so it was a 2015 model.

I am about to finalize a deal on a Yukon XL Denali...I drove a 2015 this past Monday and of course was the only one in the car that noticed the buffeting noise. All windows were up. I am scrounging the SE looking for a specific color combo but can't bring myself to go with a 2015 so I am even more limited with the availability of the 2016's. Gorgeous car but man, posts like these make me wonder if I am making the right move.

Now having TWO 2015's bought back from GM, I would suggest you wait the short amount of time and see what the feedback is on the 2016's. You have already said you hear the buffeting sounds. Imagine how frustrated you will become when your driving this car and you hear these noises every time your in the vehicle.Thats the exact situation I have been going through for the last year now. My wife loved her new Yukon, It was making all the known noises. GM bought it back. The 2015 1/2 was said to have fixed all these noises and ear pressure. So ran out and bought a new Escalade. Its been a disaster! Not sure if you've read any of my previous posts. But they've replaced just about everything in this vehicle. don't have the energy to list it all again.

Some have said its a "hit or miss" when you buy a 2015. Not sure if thats accurate. I've now driven somewhere around 50 2015 Tahoes, Yukon's, Escalades now and EVERYONE has made the booming/droaning/ear pressure related sounds to some degree.

With ALL THE KNOWN problems, I really don't know why anyone that has seen all of this would even consider a 2015?????

Totally agree...I have driven 4 2015 XL Denali's prior to Monday and never noticed anything like it. I am literally waiting on my dealer to call me back with a green light on being able to DX one within 250 miles...I provided them with 5 XL's that I'd lease - they just have to go get it.

Any issues with the Escalade?

Don't buy a 2015. GM repurchased both of my 2015s too. Wait. Test drive a 2016 over a 24 hour period. It sounds like GM is getting a handle on it...but not yet. I may buy again, but not until 2016 at some point.

It seems like this issue affects all the vehicles, but only a small group of people are actually sensitive to the frequencies of sound produced. This is the only way that can explain the hundreds of thousands of these vehicles on the road, and a small group of people that hear it on almost every one they drive. It also explains how GMs vehicle testing did not pick up this issue.

I just called the service manager at my local dealer and of course they had never heard of such a thing..I told him to go drive the White Diamond w/Dark Atmosphere sitting right outside and let me know what you think.

Personally I believe this to be the case. At times I'm pretty sure I can hear the buffeting sound that the others hear. That doesn't really bother me as much as the constant low speed body booming. Driving 20 mph down rough pavement (rough, not necessarily bumpy) and the interior cabin vibrates and booms like crazy. All that road noise vibrates straight up into the cabin. It is definitely more noticeable at slower speeds.

I have Audi and VW SUV's in our household and neither one booms like that on the same road. I would agree with the poster that stated the body and frame mounts are too stiff.

I've been searching for a 16 that should hopefully be found tomorrow. Really hoping it doesn't have this issue.

My 2016 Yukon Denali with 1300 miles on it has had several issues:

1) Vibration from 1 - 55 mph (95% fixed with 2 road force balancing sessions)

2) Hard hard ride - my 79 vette rode better than this.

3) buffeting noise as if a rear window is down

The owner of a 2nd dealership drove the Denali and had to back it back down from 65 mph it was so bad.

For an SUV nudging 80 grand they should NOT ride like this!

FWIW - I purchased a 2015i Yukon XL SLT with a tow package, 18" wheels, cross bars, no sunroof, and I've had no issues. I now have 5,000 miles on it and everything seems fine. I was aware of this issue before I bought it and was very nervous about purchasing the vehicle but my 2002 Suburban was totaled and I needed a replacement. I test drove the vehicle I bought three times on three different days because I thought I was feeling the pressure, but everyone else I brought in the vehicle didn't notice anything.. For the first two weeks of ownership I kept listening but eventually I gained confidence and everything has been great. I watch this post because I'm curious what the issue is and I want to know what solution GM comes up with to solve the problem in case my Yukon develops the issue down the road.

Good luck.
