Went to pick up the truck and they tell me that it's not ready. The pico came back with numbers that the engineers wanted to address.

They were instructed to unbolt the power train, let the truck naturally settle, then retorque all bolts by hand. This should resolve the remaining vibration on the frame since according to them, the bridgestones are all RFB 15 lbs or less.

The booming is a whole other issue. Since the vibration has been reduced, they say that the boom is not noticeable. I didn't get to drive it, so I don't know.

I downloaded the revised PIT, and it stated that the NEW exhaust is only for the 5.3.

I downloaded the new PIT5404B, dated August 26, and it indeed states that new part numbers for 5.3 exhaust for all pre 07/2016 Yukon's.

But there is a section in there that states that you are to swap the 6.2 exhaust with a known good one and see if the issue still exists. If it does, you're to order a new 6.2 exhaust. But it is not a revised part number.

So I think I'll hand this to them tomorrow. I'm sure they missed this section.

Tomorrow it will be the 29 straight days at the dealership and this 29 days stretch is the 3rd visit for vibration and booming. My 2016 Yukon Denali XL 6.2L was manufactured on 01/16.

Where did you download the PIT from??

If there's anyway you can call your dealer and ask for the PIT number that includes the 6.2L exhaust, it would be greatly appreciated.

My dealer insists that the exhaust fox is only for 5.3s and the Active Noise Cancellation is the issue on the 6.2s.

They've had the truck 28 days now at the dealer ship and are still trying to balance the sake shitty f******** tires.

I know that one of the bulletins had the dealer test to see if the ANC was the cause, but disabling it altogether. The instruction was to remove the fuse that powers the entire audio system, and test drive the vehicle. I did this about a year and a half ago myself!! And guess what - made no difference whatsoever - the boomi and droning sounds were still there. Actually, that not 100% true - I did hear MORE road and wind noise when e ANC was disabled.

Anyway, in my vehicle, the ANC is definitely not the "cause" of the noise issues. Something else.

A buddy of mine owns a shop and works on Corvettes so he has access to GM tech link.

I posted the PIT5404A three pages back.

This addresses the booming being caused by the ANC or roof bows or wheel vibration.

The revised one, PIT5404B, is the same. The only two differences are:

1) part numbers for the new 5.3 exhaust and muffler. Which is also listed here 1 page back.

2) and directions for 6.2s to test the booming by swapping out the exhaust with another and seeing if that resolves the issue.

That's it.

For the new PIT number have your service rep do a general noise search. The TSB is only under the 2016 model year so if they are searching under 2015 it won't come up. It is dated Aug 26,2016. Maybe GM is hanging those of us with 2015's out to dry....

Can anyone that has had their booming/buffeting repaired, can you tell me if the booming at slow speeds at every bump in the road normal.

It seems the dealer reduced the booming sound whwn cruising quite a bit at 40 and 70 miles an hour, but I swear the booming sound when I hit a bump or on rough roads is worse.

Every single one I drove has the booming over bumps and rough roads, I just wondering of this is what they consider normal since everyone has it?

Hello again. Sorry I could not provide specifics for what the dealer did to mine last time. I think mine was one of the first with the newer exhaust. Sadly it's back at the dealer again. The boom has returned. The buffering had gotten worse again For a couple weeks it did great and I was beginning to fall in love with it again. Then like a light switch the problems are back. They are gonna keep working on it. Supposedly a GM engineer is gonna look at jt next week as there is another one there for service with the same issues. In a years time this thing has been at the dealer prob 45-60 days. Of course we got a used Tahoe to drive 2015 ltz just like mine. Same mileage. 30k and booms and buffets just as bad. Unfortunately for me I bought mine used with 9k miles on it. No lemon law return for me

at low speeds te boom seems worse to me as well. If you go from paved to gravel it will jar your ears.

That's what I'm talking about. The boom at every bunp. Gravel roads, rumble strips, just make it much more horrible.

They all have it. I just thought it was body flex from the bumps in the road, but the slightest bumps make it boom and it's only at slow speeds.

So everyone has the booming over bumps at slow speeds? Every the ones that have been fixed with tires or new exhausts?

My booming, just as you described it, was fixed by mounting dampers or weights on my exhaust. I posted pictures a few pages back.

And just to confirm, you had a Denali, so your exhaust/engine is a 6.2?

Of so, could you tell me the name of your dealer in Canada?

Problem is that the buffeting is cure with RFB and better tires, but the low speed booming is caused by the exhaust.

And PIT5405B doesn't necessarily address the new exhaust for the 6.2L. Only 5.3s get new exhausts.

So did they put dampers on a 6.2?

Yes, I still hear the booming over bumps. It's very annoying. They did fix my booming/buffeting sound when in v4 mode.My husband thinks it is because the vehicles are so air tight, that it is like we are essentially sitting in a drum and it amplifies every bump in the road.

Correct, I have a 6.2L and they mounted dampers to eliminate the low speed booming over bumps/snow/gravel. The buffeting was fixed by getting all 4 tires under 15lbs of RF. The vibrating was resolved by replacing the rear axle.

I'll PM you the name of my dealership.

Hey there. Do you have a service bulletin number for the dampers for the low speed road noise? Wonder if works for the 5.3 engine?

There is/was no service bulletin for this. No part numbers either. The work order just read "install dampers on exhaust".
