I live in a hot climate so they said just bring it in at 5000 miles for a service. I have 4000 miles on it now and have had the vehicle for about 3 1/2 months. Hot weather highway miles. I checked the oil today and its not black or dark at all. Clean like almost as clean as the first time I checked the oil. I was very suprised, but the fact that it carries I think 8 quarts of oil now helps with the oil not getting burnt so fast even in this really hot dusty area. I honestly would go 7500 but I have noticed that my gas milage has gone down a little since I hit 3000 + miles on this oil. I was told many times that the best way to really change your oil is take the car in and get the oil tested to see how broken down it really is. I obviously wont do that on this truck because i want the warranty and the paperwork stating that it was changed at about 5000 or so while it was under warranty. No need to give them fuel for the fire if my engine blows up or something and they say its because i f'd up on the service schedules.I did notice that the oil on the stick went down a bit. I dont believe it is really burning the oil. I think its going into the intake and getting stuck in the manifold and causing it to also mess with my gas milage. I have been thinking about getting the oil catch can. I have seen alot of information on it helping to keep your intake oil free for better flow and no oil building up in the intake. What do you guys think about that?

I just wanted to stick with the dealer I bought it at cause its 5 mins away & lifetime free oil changes

My dealer told me that I can use my free oil changes at their dealership they will do them when ever I want! No way in hell I am leaving the first one until 10,000 km and that is about 8500 miles. I can't believe dealers would risk reputation over a stupid oil change!

I would tell your dealer to give you the oil and filter and I will do it myself! Besides that who says dealers are even going to use the kind of oil you want?

10 000 km is about 6200 miles.

These trucks don't come with special oil. Change it whenever you feel like it but I'm on the side of doing the first one early.

Last truck I went super extended drains was a 04 Z71 when I was sill running the roads a lot. I change it every 25K miles, I only kept it for 3 years and 250K miles so it hard to say if it was going to last. Now I just change the oil when the light comes on at the dealer. When it gets out of warranty Ill go full synthetic and change once a year.
