Metal skid plates?

That's correct, EXSlider400. I just bought that part number and the four factory bolts needed to install it to the frame. (11518341) and installed on my 2014 LT, 4x4 without z71. As far as I can tell, that's the only skid plate that the z71 has over the normal 4x4. It took some manual cranking with a 15mm socket as the frame holes are threaded but sprayed over. Had it all done within 10 minutes.

I ordered the skid plates for my 2014 non Z-71 4X4, they came in the one for the transfer case is the metal shield the one for the front engine area was plastic? same thing I already have on the truck? the parts people looked all over and can not find a metal skid plate for the 2014 for that front engine area, all the way up to 2013 they show metal plates for the Z71 package but in 2014 they only show a plastice front skid plate? makes no sense plastic isn't going to protect anything other than from bug hits!! anyone have a clue if metal shields (from GM are available for the 2014 trucks?)

Only plate difference between Z71 is the metal transfer cover. A few post in this thread say this....

 

at first I thought the front was different to but we straightened that out. The front is plastic with metal support brackets.

 

Someone said maybe fuel tank cover but I don't know.

Subscribed. Don't do any off-roading yet but would still like to have a solid metal plate to replace that plastic crud. I also feel like it wouldn't be too durable.

The GM plastic front skid plate at retail goes for $250/sale $175 plus shipping. What would a metal one go for?

Just found this thread. So I have a buddy from high school that lives in Texas now and I met up with him over the Christmas holiday to catch up. He has a truck modification business that he started in Dallas originally to work on Ford Raptors but they've since grown and are taking on other makes and models. I told him how I hated that my truck has plastic skid plates but no one really makes a metal replacement for them. He indicated that he might be able to get the CAD files for our trucks and manufacture metal skid plates to the exact dimensions of the plastic plates which means they would be an easy direct swap. Would you guys be interested in pursuing this? I don't have any idea on cost at this point and me being in Virginia, I imagine shipping from Dallas won't be the cheapest thing in the world for a metal plate. But this is a potential option. Let me know and I can message him on facebook and try to get more details.
