Apparently I bought a factory freak. My headlights are great in my 14 Sierra Denali. I've owned several cars with factory xenon hid's and my factory halogens were more than ample. Of course I can't leave anything alone so I put a morimoto plug and play hid kit in and now it's even better. No complaints here!

I just installed the morimoto kit last night, best money spent on the Sierra. If you hate the headlights, install the kit, problem solved.

I just got my truck last week and finally had a longer night drive last night. I think the lights work just fine, the only thing I noticed is that the low beams could be slightly raised some. High beams seemed pretty bright. Overall, the lights seem comparable to my other cars and trucks I've owned.

I have to agree with the above statement: High beams very good, low beams OK, fog lights only illuminate directly in front of the truck... I just wanted a whiter light and tried the SilverStars and was deeply disapointed in them. Thank goodness that O'Reilys took them back.

I am curious in the kelvin temp on these stock bulbs... I am thinking just a higher K rating may work for me.

I am going to explore the possibility of adjusting the fogs wider to see if that would help...

I don't have an issue with the lights on my Deanli. I just received my hid upgrade from DDM for my lows and my fogs. I will install them when my intake comes in.

It's interesting about how owners of vehicles costing over $50k, in some cases, are buying some of the cheapest HID kits on the market.

I went with DDM because I had them in my GTO for years and never had an issue with them.

Understood. I had a set of some other Chinese brand in the fogs on my 08 truck and never had any problems as well. But when I bought them for this truck, I put them in the headlights and didn't want to deal with overseas mail and no customer service, if I had a problem. I wanted a company that was here at least with their name on them and doing enough business that replacing a kit would be no big deal to them. There's a fair possibility that they're all made in some sweat shop in Shanghi. But having some round eye put their name on them made me feel the difference in price would buy me some customer service some day. I may be wrong, but I felt it was like buying an extended warranty. :fingersx:

Definitely a safety issue with the headlights as far as I'm concerned.

I shouldn't have to modify my headlights on a $60000 pickup just to make it safe to drive at night.

Hopefully GM comes out with a fix soon.

For those with the Morimoto kit. Obviously they are brighter and we can at least see now. However, my high beams are pointing to the sky. Literally 10-15 degrees up. I drive under tree cover a lot and it is amazing to me how high they point, even my son said 'Dad, your lights are pointing way too high'.

The light output is great. If I could get them to point down the road instead of so high, they would be fantastic. Problem is, if I adjust them down, the lows go with it, and point way too low.

Anyone with this kit have this issue?

Another small problem is they point so high, that I light up road signs almost to the point of blinding me, and for sure a big distraction.

The fix, would be able to point the projector down, and then be able to adjust the shutter height for lows, but this is not possible, as there is no shutter height adjustment.

Drove mine on Saturday and noticed that the lights didn't illuminate as well as expected. The low beams actually did a pretty decent job, but the high beams are too high. Got me thinking, I have a 2" front level, what are the chances that the level kit is throwing the lights too high and not giving us a good beam pattern? Not saying that it's the answer to the problem, but it could be a heavy contributor.

Of those that are complaining about poor lighting, how many of you have level kits and how many are still stock? If you're leveled, have you adjusted the aim of your lights?

My take on the Sierra projectors is that the light is managed less optimally than with the GMT900. The HIR 9012 bulb puts out more light than a GMT900 bulb. But more of the light is focused in tight beams and less in a wider beam. So, you can see further down the road, but there is less peripheral lighting.

That is really my issue as well. The peripheral lighting is terrible especially when making a right hand turn. The side of the road is not lit up sufficiently. Too bad cause, like a lot of others,I really like the truck otherwise.

    • You could try a used 1, they used that engine in the Astro vans, Plenty of them in the boneyard. Look for a wrecked or rotted 1 so the chance that it was scrapped for that reason and not a mechanical issue will be greater

    • My centre console USB ports haven’t been working and the one in the glovebox is starting to act up. When I plug my phone into the cord the radio will go black and stop playing, and the CarPlay is inconsistent.   I checked the fuses and they were fine. I changed the USB port out and still nothing. Hoping for some advice on what I should be looking at.
    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
