Help removing driver's side exhaust manifold, not the bolts.1997 3

I'm pulling off the exhaust manifolds to get the broken and stuck bolts out of where they attach to the Y-pipe, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the emissions connection apart. I'm not exactly what it's called, so I haven't been able to figure out what to even search for.

I've managed to get everything disconnected except the far rear connection that goes to a pipe back into the front side of the manifold. Any tips on how to get this apart without ripping everything off the top of the intake and disconnecting it there?

It's on a 1997 Silverado with a 350, but it's a replacement engine, so I'm not exactly sure what year it is.

All this fun started after a fuel line rusted out and the ensuing work. Fuel line lead to a new rear brake line, which lead to new wheel cylinders, which lead to replacing the exhaust gasket which lead to broken and stripped studs, which lead to this. I'm wondering what's next.

Thanks for any help.

Op it sounds like a secondary air injection tube. Soak with some penatrating oil and maybe try to heat a little and it may bust loose for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a wrench on it. It's tucked back there so far I'm not sure there's room. Maybe the tube will flex a bit and allow me to get the wrench on it.

It looks like I'd have to take off a lot of stuff to get the intake manifold side off.

Hey Did you find a good way to get it off? My exhaust manifold is cracked so I'm about to try and get it off tomorrow. The parts guy didn't know what that fitting was, I showed him this picture of it.

Thanks

Kevin

I ended up grinding down a 1inch wrench, soaked with penetrating fluid, and gave the nut a few whacks with a chisel. Luckily it wasn't too hard and that was the only tough spot for the job. This is my first Chevy and so far it's been great to work on!

Glad to hear it went well. Are you putting headers on?
