Is this like an actual rattle coming from the flap (dont think ive heard that yet) or it is the like "turbo blow off valve" sound you hear when going from V4 to V8? I hear that all the time haha, sounds kind of ricey.

Supposedly with the valve secured in the open position and in 4 cylinder it sounds like a helicopter. I haven't noticed yet, and I was really listening for it today.

I hate to go chopping on a pretty stainless exhaust, the bolt served it purpose.

Didn't GM say they tested these trucks for hundreds of thousands of miles before starting production. Are all of their test drivers deaf or were they told to shut up when they reported this exhaust valve issue?

Are you assuming that all of them squeak? Mine is quiet and the only issue I have with the stock exhaust is the turbo like whine when decelerating. Having owned several trucks and cars that had performance exhaust, I kinda like the quiet of this truck. I've talked to several other owners in person who feel this way too. So, not all of them are problems. Just sayin....

Like everything else on this truck, "it's the luck of the draw", parts and components seem to be very inconsistent.

Only had my truck a month. At first I had some type of whooshing or humming sound coming from the front of the truck when the engine was under load (like going up a slight hill). Never heard the squeak. So I clamped the exhaust valve open. Whatever that noise I was hearing pretty much went away. But then came the helicopters chasing me (drone) when driving in V4 mode. Seemed a little annoying so last week I removed my clamp from the exhaust valve. Now I still faintly hear that original whooshing/humming sound while driving, but now I also hear the V4 to V8 squeak. Not sure what to do now....

this is what I did and it quit.

"Get some high temp anti seize compound and put it on the pivot pin and spring".

Bolted mine open, no noticeable drone.

 

Been like that 1k miles or so.

It's strange how some people get the helicopter sound and some don't. When I clamped mine open at first I didn't get it but after a few days I started hearing it. Very annoying when it happens.
