i am no mechanic but with the 6.2 having more hp/trq, would it not hold four cylinders better

than the 5.3 with both trucks being equal

Wife's truck 2014 with 5.3l and 3.08 gears 25 mpg

My truck 2014 6.2l and 3.42 gears 23 mpg.

We only did one test.

I've got a 6.2L, 3.42 gears, stock tires, leveling kit.

I'm at 6800 miles so far - 14mpg city / 20mpg highway

I've also noticed it goes into V4 drastically more often when using tow/haul mode, weather I'm hauling anything or not.

I get 23 mpg in my 6.2 with a super charger. personally I don't see any benefit to getting the 5.3 other than if you simply don't want to spend the extra money.

Well Ill answer that, when I got mine the Texas package out the door was 31K loaded pretty good. The 5.3 on corn is 380 HP. The left over Denali I was looking at was 15K more. AS loaded as the Texas package is its hard to justify for the differents in HP. That with supercharging in mind is a fifty HP differents, according to the web sites between the two and is paid for by buying the 5.3 and then some. If it was just a 2500$ upgrade on the Texas package I would have bought it.

+1... using people's mileages in the forums is kind of useless unless they are located in the same region as you with same conditions and truck model. I live in Florida and CT during the year... just got back from my first stay in FL with the truck and was literally averaging 4 MPG more down there compared to the hilly stop & go conditions up here in CT.

Fuelly is a good site to check. You can view different configurations and engines and see their mileage... It will only get better as more and more fuel ups are recorded.

The govt site is BS.

but no one has really answered the question

with all things being equal would the 6.2 not hold 4 cylinders longer

with more hp/trq

It goes into 4v based off yr throttle position, speed, and rpm so too answer yr question it should be the same

one more time

when the 6.2 is in four cyclinders would it not hold it longer than the 5.3 with matching axle ratio's

since it would have more hp/trq in four

I reset my Trip A with every fuel up. I usually see mileage between 16-18.

My Trip B I haven't ever reset. That average shows 16.6mpg. And I also track my MPG with fuely, which shows me 16.5 mph since I've had it.

5.3, 3.42 gears. 10868 miles

I average 15.5 with a best of 17.8 on 91 octane. Just over 11,000 miles

My Mod list:

3.42 gears 5.3L

6" fabtech lift

400lbs total: (22" toyo open country mud terrain and 22x11 fuel hostage wheels)

AFE Momentum GT intake

AFE Exhaust

Chucks Custom Tuning Tune ( Houston, Tx )

These posts make me feel real good about my mileage. I also have about a 50/50 mix on city/hwy driving conditions.

Pretty good for a lifted truck. I'd say my driving is about 80 city/20 hwy
