Sorry if there's a topic Posted already but I can't seem to find it on my phone if there is. I'm wanting to remove the sierra emblems from the sides and the rear, along with the GMC and sle badge on the rear and the 4x4 by the hood. What are y'all using to get it off the truck and also to get the sticky stuff off.

Anyone ever use this turtle wax stuff?

Use fishing line ran behind the emblem like a saw to remove the emblem. Then goo remover of choice to get the sticky stuff.

I heated them up and sawed them off. Then the tape is left on the truck still, start on the edge and try to start peeling it up, but peel it at an angle and it will come off on its own and not leave much sticky residue behind. I used Bug and Tar remover to get off any remaining residue.

like this guy did in this video:

^^^this and just used Goo Gone to get the remaining sticky stuff off...there was not much left. Then a little polish.

Why debadge? I've always been curious

I did it on my old truck. It just gives a cleaner look. I don't plan on doing it to my current truck, a '14, because I like the look of the chrome badges on a black truck.

Just pull slowly and "roll" the tape off w/ your thumb. Works every time.

It got most of mine off, but there was a little residue leftover.

Why debadge? Because we can. :)

I have an early build '14 Texas Edition Silverado. It just seemed like too much with both badges on the doors. They made a change with later builds where they just have the Texas Edition badge and also removed the Silverado badge from the High Country (I think they did the same with Sierra All Terrain). I like the new cleaner look, so I just removed the Silverado badges from my truck's doors. If was easy and took me all of 30 minutes.

In any event, it give new meaning to "personalization".

The Quick and safe way would be to use fishing line, followed by the 3m wheel that removes residue. The wheel is safe on paint and takes the residue right off. Finish up with some auto detailer. post-134365-141184644737_thumb.jpg

It sounds like your Sierra is brand new. My way, is to get it good and hot with a hair dryer and pull the badge off by hand. Usually I get a corner started with a small flat screwdriver. Use both hands and make sure the screwdriver doesn't touch the paint. Once you can get your fingertips in there, carefully pull the badge off. Usually the badge will be undamaged and a majority of the adhesive backing comes with it. What little adhesive that's left comes off easily with your fingertips (not fingernails especially on dark colored paints) and some automotive sticker remover or WD-40. I have found this method to be the easiest way to remove the badge and most of the adhesive backing in one piece. Follow up with a shot of spray wax. Of course older trucks with baked on badges will require more work.

Debadging looks clean, makes waxing easier, and just plain looks better. I have debadged several GM trucks and I've yet to find one that was easily done with my finger tips. By the time you do the entire truck your finger tips will be fragged. 3m eraser wheels is the way to go.
