Driveway lighting options

I'm looking around for some better lighting for my driveway. Originally, I was thinking of installing some flood lamps, but I got to thinking. I wonder how well would an off road LED light strip work. I know all the ones I've seen are made to work of 12v, but that's a minor problem. I was thinking that it would be nice a low profile and could mount just above my garage door.

I just put some led spot lights from lowes on the corners of my house & they're stupid bright and small

I don't like the LED look yet, so I stick to good old incandescent or CFL or Fluorescent lighting, but you have plenty of options. For high output, I'd reccomend 150-175Watt Metal Halide (decent white light color) or 150 watt High Pressure Sodium, if you don't mind the yellow streetlight look. Metal Halide doesn't last as long as HPS.

What I hate about these new lights is that they take so long to warm up! Especially in a cold Canadian winter. Trying to find the old bulbs to put in my soffit pots!
