Clearing your headlights

I just provided factual information. I think it's OK that you don't agree with it or don't think it's factual or don't think it's enforced. It's just information. Just sharing.

Thank you. Good information.

spur shot is right, you must have a yellow / amber color reflector in the front of your vehicle. it does not have to actually be a part of the light assembly it just has to be on the front of your vehicle. same as the back, you have to have a red reflectors on the back of your vehicle, again does not have to be apart of the light assembly, just has to be there.

is this law enforced heavily, no. can you get a ticket or fail inspection (if your state has it) yes.

I was saying the same thing in all of my comments, that as long as you have an amber color bulb then you'll be fine...

Drove a subaru with clear corners and amber bulbs for 4 years. Drove a 94 silverado with clear corners (still has clear corners, but my uncle drives it) for.. about 12 years now, never had anything said to me about it. Drove a 97 mountaineer for 7 years, 5 of which had clear corners and CLEAR bulbs.. never a word.

You go puting blue bulbs in there a cop's gonna say something. but unless the cop just wants to ding you for as much as he possibly can, you're good methinks. You'd probably have to be stopped for something else AND the cops having a bad day/just doesn't like you before you'd get any kind of ding on it legality wise. I never sweated it with my Subaru (and it looked MUCH better than with the amber.)

amber bulbs are not the same as reflectors. the reflectors are for when you are parked and a car driving down the street headlights shine on your car they are able to see the reflectors. if your car is not on and you dont have the reflectors then their lights will not reflect.

again im not saying dont do it. I just like spur shot is saying if you do do this then just know that you can get dinged for it.

I understand the reflector part. But, think about it, if you're driving at night you'll see the car itself before you see the light reflecting off of reflectors. I know reflectors do help obviously, just saying they're not really a must have. Especially since vehicles are coming out with brighter and brighter lights from the factory. I know that there's still older cars out there and some that aren't taken care of so only have 1 headlights, but even the 1 headlight you'll see the car. The reflector needs light to reflect and if your light is reflecting off of them then that means the light is on the car so you'll see the car. It's not like cars are small like a bicycle, unless you talk about a smart car where those little sh*ts need all the advantages they can get. EVen some placed reflectors aren't good enough on a bicycle, some places you need actual headlight and flashing tail lights.

So again I know he's just giving the info which I see is true, I'm just looking at it from a real world POV. Wasn't attacking him or anything. I just got a little defensive when he called it a "web myth" to have amber bulbs with clear corners, almost like it's rare when I see it all the time and I had my 98 with clear corners and amber bulbs for 10 years and they were on there when I got it used so even longer on the truck.

Any other pics of clear corners? Or opinions? I have my new to me LTZ headlights apart and am debating whether or not to remove the amber reflectors. My truck is silver for what it's worth. I have the headlights apart for a retro and because there was dust in them.

Here is a link to clear corner lenses. Avail in smoke as well. A little pricey but are quality looking and we'll look 500 times better than the Amber lense And will allow me to install my switchbacks and give it that finished look without changing too much.

    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
