2007 Tahoe vibration at 65 MPH when accelerating

I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe (105,000 miles) that has recently started vibrating when doing a light acceleration or maintain at 65 - 70 MPH. If I let off the gas or accelerate more, it instantly stops. The vibration seems to come from from the mid to front of the vehicle from what I can tell. The car recently had a tuneup and service with a fuel cleaning at a the service shop. Any thoughts?

Universal joints are about finished, sounds like.

Bad tires. Take it to a well known tire shop to check it out. Tires have been a major problem for me over the years, causing all kinds of odd problems.

Could it be tires if it only does it with a light acceleration? If I let off the gas while still going the same MPH it stops vibration. Would the tires vibrate at that speed either way? I am not very car handy.

I am reading more about possible universal joints. I don't have the clunking sounds but I do have some extra noise when going over speed bumps at low speeds.

If it were tires, the vibration would remain, whether you accelerate, coast, or cruise. The sudden change upon placing a load on the driveline tells me it's the U-joints.

 

Pull the driveshaft and see if there's any binding in their range of motion. If not, you only lost 10 minutes of your time.

It will be a u-joint just about for sure. Be sure to actually remove the shaft to check the joints, don't let a shop tell you that the u-joints are ok because there is no play in them. Remove the shafts and as suggested above, look for roughness or binding. Take the one set of caps off that you can and look at the actual trunion. If you see any lines in the light refection, replace the joints. If one joint is bad, do them all. They all have the same amount of wear and exposure on them.

It could be the u joint straps too. Maybe the driveshaft is out of balance
