HID question

Awesome! The 55W HIDs really add a lot of light out front. I still have 2 LED bars, one 20" and one 30" but that's just for added light. I honestly don't even use my high beams anymore. I use my 2 bars and my LED pods in my fogs. I don't even use my highs to flash people. I usually use my bars during the day and my pods at night.

Here's an example of the 55W 5000K in Sierra projectors

First is from outside the truck and the second is through my windshield with 45% tint on it

Edit: just read your post in the HID projector/bulb retrofit thread. Only a wire harness is required with 55W bulbs

Ordered the projector swap with 55 watt. They said the highs and fogs might melt the reflectors. I'd like to at least do the fogs, but only if they don't melt the reflectors.

25W definitely should not melt them. I thought the Silverados were fine with 35W HIDs

I know I had some issues with HIDS fogs on my truck so I switched over to the Rigid Dually D2.

What were your questions about a 55W kit? I try to get on that thread and answer questions as much I can since I have seen that whole thread from the beginning. Ever since Motomedic has not been able to get on here much that thread and some others have gotten extremely cluttered. He used to help keep the threads shorter and much more imformaitive than just people shooting the breeze

to answer some questions I can tell you have, yes 55W HIDs can be used on the road with no issues if you have projectors. I have them in mine and haven't had a single issue with law enforcement. They looks stock.

6000K 55W should match 35W 5000K

What brand do you guys prefer? I'm looking to get HID on my 2015 2500. I want the white white look. I don't like the blueish tint.

I got DDMs. I just ordered 2 kits from them so I would have spare parts if something went wrong. Even ordering 2 kits from DDM was still cheaper than ordering one Morimoto.

I went with DDM for the price. Thats who I prefer

What didnt you like about yours? I love mine and have had no issues to speak of. My friend just had a set go out that i gave to him almost 7 years ago. Thats pretty impressive.

I haven't had any problems at all. Morimoto is just a much higher quality product. The lights are much much brighter. And with the same set up with ddm the lights were greenish.

What all would I need for my 2014 Silvy? I've used DDM on all my vehicles previously with not much issue. Do I buy the canbus kit from ddm or a regular kit with error code eliminators? Whats the difference between error code eliminators and canbus modules?

What do you want? Just a good quality HID kit for your truck or are you looking for something specific?

Either kit should work fine as long as it's installed properly. I've had both types of kits and haven't had problems with either type. CANBUS is a type of system used in electrical components that allows them to communicate. Essentially the CANBUS ballasts are able to communicate with the CANBUS system already installed in newer vehicles. So a CANBUS ballast doesn't try to "fool" the system, it just communicates that there is not a problem with the headlights since the car's system thinks there is a problem due to HID bulbs using less power. Error-code eliminators are basically in-line devices that fool the system into thinking everything is okay. I could be wrong so I'm saying this is how they work but I think the error-code eliminators work like resistors to make the system believe it still has halogen bulbs. The resistors dissipate power in the form of heat. So, just for talking purposes, your stock headlights used 65W bulbs. Your car's system would sense an issue if the headlight circuit were not drawing 65W of power. HID bulbs are typically 35W or 55W. So you would need to add resistance for the circuit to draw the equivalent of 65W to make the car think everything is okay.

Take it from someone who has gone through 3 kits before he found a good one.....Buy a Morimoto Kit and be done with it. They are by far the best quality kit I have seen in the HID market and their kits are worth the extra money you are going to a pay for them.
