After doing some reading on here, it appears that unplugging the MAF sensor to remove the air box can cause this to happen. It's been posted on here that once it recalibrates itself it will be ok. I'll see what it does tomorrow, I guess.

After letting it sit for 15 minutes and restarting the fans don't come on but the check engine light was still on. Maybe by tomorrow it will go off too.

basically, yes

I feel like an idiot for asking this but I don't want to start breaking stuff on my new truck. Well I pulled my truck into the warehouse last week since its been so cold out and attempted to install the kit last week with my hand tools and quit after I pulled the air box out. That and I had a poor selection of tools next to me. My fault for that.

-Do I even need to remove the front engine cover?

-After I pulled the airbox out there is a plastic like cover behind the front passenger light. Do I need to remove that? It seemed like it was held on by some plastic clips. If so I need to go out and buy a plastic clip remover...

-What is the correct way to unplug the MAF sensor? I pulled the red tab up until it made a clicking noise but I still couldn't get the clip to come out. Do I just need to add some elbow grease or do I need to insert something somewhere to get it to come off?

1) Do I even need to remove the front engine cover?

1) no, the only things that will need to be removed are the airbox and the plastic caps on the back of the headlight.

2) Yes I am pretty sure that you wil need to remove that weird plastic cover. Not really sure what the point of it is.

3) once you pull out the red tab out (I do NOT mean completely remove the red tab. I simply mean once you pull it till it clicks just as you did already), you will need to push down on the black plastic piece that goes across the top of that red tab. You may hear it click again and then pull and bam, it's unplugged.

Thanks man, I feel so dumb right now. It was like 8pm last Wednesday and I did not want to be working on the truck till 10 in a cold warehouse trying to figure it out. Seems pretty simple now. Gonna go pick up a clip remover from autozone later on today and knock it out.

Attempted to put this kit in this weekend with some issues that hopefully will get resolved. I had power from the battery to the ground to the ballast and to the relay on the passenger side, but no power going to the drivers side after the relay. Passenger light wouldn't come on at all by itself. Bypassed the relays to check if the ballasts or bulbs were bad and boom they worked awesome. Totally confusing since I checked the relays with a volt meter and they were getting power. Any ideas what might be going on?

Just installed my Sierra spec kit. I'm really impressed with the light. Changed out my fogs as well with the VLED 5000k. Everything matches really well. I ended up putting the relays on the passenger side in between the batt and the antifreeze reservoir. I really don't recommend doing that way as I had to trim back the Volant air intake box. I removed the top radiator cover with all the push pins and ran the blue wire inside and across the top of the radiator in the metal channel. I spent a lot of time making all wires tidy. I also had to extend that blue wire about 3' or so which wasn't a big deal. 16AWG is all that's needed. I removed the pin from the connector and spliced in that additional length of wire. Everything came out nicely. Lights fired off correctly at the first time. No buzzing.

Cut off is nice and level as well. I just took my time and did it right.

Also...that 7/8" hole that they say to drill in the screw-on cap on the back of the headlight...it isn't a big enough hole to fit the connector through. I was nervous to Dremel out the hole and possibly oversize it and risk the big rubber grommet not fitting correctly, so I released the pins from the connectors and fed them through and reassembled the connectors. If anyone does this, be sure to bend the release tab back out so you hear the "click" when reinserting into the connector and ensure rubber seal is installed as designed.

I wonder why you had to extend the blue wire? All other installation guides don't mention having a problem with wire length.

I guess if I didnt route it like I did, I'd probably have enough. I wanted it super clean.

Got the same kit but couldn't get mine to fire up any suggestions on how what you did to make it work right?

I also extended mine and ran over the core support. Recommended it and the relay mount in my write up on the main HID page. Also took lots of pictures. Only difference is our lights as I have the Chevy.

I read the post about your issues. Sounds like you did a good job troubleshooting your issue. I don't know what it could be.

I ensured all my wires were properly seated in each connector and made a positive engagement when plugged in.

My grounding location on the passenger side is in between the arm that you have to move out of the way in order to remove the air box. I took a Dremel with a barrel sanding bit and removed the paint under that small arm mounting point (on the fender) and then did the same thing on top of that arm where the bolt passes through and sandwiched the two grounds in between. It hides the grounds well. I did the same thing on the drivers side with the one ground.

I'd suggest putting a call into TRS and see if they can help.
