Morimoto Sierra Spec HID

Just got my kit in! I know installation is relatively easy but I have never installed HID's before. Does anyone have instructions on how to do it? If they are specific for the 2014 GMC/Chevy's that would be fantastic.

edit: nvm; found this

Got my kit in today and WOW there are some wires!!! I'm going to attempt this install tomorrow mid day so I'll post up my results.

my sierra spec kit are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. i'll see if I can get them in this weekend but only if I can get backed into my garage so I can plug the heater in - it's been between -2 and 10F here this week.

I'm installing my kit and I have an extra oem connection. Does anyone know where this goes?

The oem wires on one side come out the dust cover and plug directly into the relay wiring harness. On the other side, I have the same situation leading from the dust over with the oem wiring. So when I plug this piece into it, I have nothing to connect on the other end. I've called TRS and they are closed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT

I found this on there website. Am I supposed to cut this wire?

You're much better off pulling the grille off man. The install will be MUCH cleaner and you won't have to stretch the harness.

Payton if you still have the relays that you removed and are willing open them up and inspect them. If you see and obvious wear post some pictures. There is a chance that the relays are going bad an can be upgraded to better ones for just a few dollars. The solid state ones would be way more expensive, so not sure everyone wants to do that. However if they are causing ballast to go bad I'm sure most people would rather spend a few bucks or more now for reliability. I can get Hella Relays for about $5 or $6 without the mounting tab. I'll try and look at how they will fit the harness from TRS next chance I have.

I opened up the cube relay and looks perfect inside. I guess it may just be bad. The issue only happened every once in a while.

Is it hard pulling off the grill? I've been putting off installing the kit since its been cold and rainy for the past week,

Pop your hood and remove 8 friction clips with a straight blade screw driver

Remove 4 10mm bolts from top of rad support

Remove 2 7mm bolts from inside wheelwell pointing forward

Remove bumper cap (painted piece of plastic between grill and bumper) pull from the edge by the wheelwell and it will come. It's stiff though, don't be afraid to use some muscle.

Remove 4 10mm bolts from bottom of grill

Lift up on top of grill tabs to detach plastic barbs and pull grill off.

Remove 3 10mm bolts from each headlight to remove headlight.

I just did mine a week ago. I should have taken photos :/

I'll have to see if the Hella relays fit.

I wish it was easier to get the painted trim off without the grill, so you can just get the lower bolts from the top. The two outside ones are a pain. The rest is a breeze.

Ok I have had it with the Morimoto TRS kit. I replaced the cube relay Sunday for the 2nd time and this morning when i shut the truck off my passenger headlight remained on. No other parking lights etc just the headlight. I dont think I could have gotten 2 defective relays. On top of this the driver side headlight just started having intermittent firing issues last week. Everything was working flawlessly for 6 months. I emailed them again and I really just want the whole system replaced, I am tired of swapping ballasts sides and replacing parts. Nothing has fixed the issues so far.

I installed my Morimoto 5K kit today. So far it works fine, but I did manage to set a code. The check engine light is on and the cooling fans run at full speed. Need to get that fixed now....

What is the cause of this?

I noticed this afternoon my fans running on high. Didn't think to much about it and just now I get in to leave and my check engine light is on. Why is this kit throwing codes all of a sudden?

After doing some reading on here, it appears that unplugging the MAF sensor to remove the air box can cause this to happen. It's been posted on here that once it recalibrates itself it will be ok. I'll see what it does tomorrow, I guess.

After letting it sit for 15 minutes and restarting the fans don't come on but the check engine light was still on. Maybe by tomorrow it will go off too.
