Morimoto Sierra Spec HID

I need a hand with the install for those who have done this. The 2 relays that are connected have a wire labeled "OEM Input" that also has a ground wire attached to it. When I connect this to the OEM headlight connector (in this case the driver side) it will light up, however, the opposite side (passenger) will not light up. What do I connect the opposite side OEM headlight connector to? Both Ballasts, igniters and bulbs are in working order as I switched them out and they all work fine. The passenger side has a connector that the OEM headlight connector can plug into, but then what do I plug into the other end?

I've tried searching for install instructions but there doesn't seem to be anything available.

Any suggestions?

Swap the relays out with each other and if the other side works you need a new relay.

I tried this In the other thread but maybe since this is a morimoto specific thread I'll have better luck. I ordered my Sierra spec kit from TRS but they sent me the Mopar spec kit and 9006 bulbs instead of 9012 like they said in the kit. Did this happen to anyone else?

Ok, Thanks, Ill give this a try.

Lastly, are you supposed to leave the passenger side OEM headlight plug open and plugged into nothing?

The kits come two ways, either with a plug on each side for the factory connection or a plug on one side for just one of the factory connections. Since it just triggers the relays one is more than enough.

My guess is you have one relay messing up for some reason, but if you have swapped the other stuff and both work plus you do the relay swap and it doesn't work. It would have to be the harness at that point. One member has connected directly to the ballasts or capacitors with no issue yet, but you might want to let him test this configuration a little longer to see if any issues happen. However if you find it is a relay and need your truck, you could do it that way while the replacement relay or harness is on the way.

I switched out the relays like you suggested but in the end....this is embarrassing...it was a bad ground. I used a voltage meter and realized that this is the reason why only one side would light up. Well, the good news is that if anyone needs a hand with this kit I can be of some use since I've basically been staring at it for 2 days :)

Thanks for all the help fellas! Sorry for the bad picture, truck is super dirty.

Yes I believe so. This is how mine is. Well the drivers side is not connected. There is a diagram on TRS website that shows this if you want to double check your setup.

Does this look right as far as cutoff and light distribution goes? Hard to see in pics but I don't have that 45 degree cutoff on each side like I've seen in pics on the web and there are some very faint dark areas. I know this is a kit in the stock setup/housing so is that correct.

Does anyone have a pic of theirs at 25' to reference?

The light pattern with a "45-deg cutoff" is used in Europe; the pattern is commonly called E-code. From the photographs I've seen of K2XX OEM headlights, none had that pattern.

My 30 day update: So far I've had absolutely no problems with my kit. It's such an improvement over the craptacular OEM lights. I can actually see at night !

I've installed this setup, passenger side has the OEM relay connected, it lights up every time. Drivers side will light up some of the time but not always. I reversed the relay OEM to the drivers side and it lights up every time, but the passenger side will not light up consistently. Has anyone experienced this?

Check to make sure you have a good ground. Make sure the paint is removed where you have the ground wire attached. I've had a similar experiance on a previous retrofit that went away when I grounded to the frame. So far I haven't had any trouble out of mine. I just made sure to remove the paint on both sides of the connection.
