Going to try this. Do you ever get any "buzzing" or "humming" when the headlights are in the "auto-on" position?

My ballasts always seem to make a buzzing when they're on. No noise when they're off though.

Ok thanks, mine did that too but I had an issue where the driver side bulb would not always turn on, just like the guy above. After reading the posts above I'm certain I have a grounding issue, but I figured the buzzing was a symptom of this. Thanks

If your ballasts are buzzing you have a PWM issue

bringing this thread back from the dead.

I'm having a small issue, i installed the sierra spec kit from TRS about 3 months ago. install went perfect, no issues. today i used the electric start in my truck (which I've done several times), and when i got in i had this loud buzzing coming from under the hood. got home and discovered it was my HID relays. they buzz for about 30 seconds and then turn off. all the lights work, no flickering or anything like that. and they were fine for a few months. they are mounted in a dry location and all connections seem tight.

any ideas?

I would check the grounds. Mine made a buzzing because one of the grounds didn't have a clean connection. If you mounted the ground to a spot where you scraped the paint to bare metal it could have rusted/corroded and might need cleaning with some emery cloth.

I spliced in a longer ground connection wire and ran it back to the battery. I never had a buzz problem but did it for good measure anyway. In my experience with car audio, electrical components can get affected by a ground loop which causes car speakers and amps to hum. This happened when the radio/head unit was grounded to the battery but the amp was grounded to the cab. Running all the grounds to the battery solves the issue. Can't hurt, try it.

+1 to riding the desert recommendation to ground all to the battery. First troubleshoot to the hum.

it hasn't happened again since my previous post, it was a vibration like the switch in the relay wasn't closing. if it does it again ill try the ground wire.

Just ordered this kit in the 35 watt 5500K flavor, which VLED LED fogs should I match them with, 6k or 5k? I guess I'm asking which color LED bulb looks closest to the 5500k HID.

So having some issues with my kit, wanted to see if you guys had any ideas as I'm still waiting for TRS to reply to my email. Installed the sierra kit 55w in March, worked well for about a week then started blowing the 25 amp inline fuse. pulled one of the ballasts and the other side would stay on and fuse wouldn't pop. TRS ended up sending me a new ballast. Installed it again and started having the same issue. Told me i needed to check my grounds so i just pulled the kit. Fast forward to Saturday. Decided i wanted to try to install it again to match my xb led fogs. Ran separate grounds for all three grounds in the kit, sanded down to bare metal and used dielectric grease. Get everything hooked up and go and flip the headlights on and pop goes the fuse again. Try removing a ballast, try again pop, move that ballast to the other side and pop. Remove that ballast and try the other on the drivers side, pop. Move it to the other side and pop. Moved igniters made no difference. So either both ballasts are jacked up or something in the harness isn't right. Anyone had anything like this happen? Think I went through about 15 fuses troubleshooting.

A friend of mine had a similar situation with his chevy cobalt. He said it ended up being a bad relay harness.
