Has anyone changed the front blinker bulbs to led?

If so can you give any insight.

Thanks,

Should be pretty self explanatory. You can get to the back of the housing from inside the engine bay. The passenger side would require removal of the air box to get access to the back of the headlight housing though.

I want to do mine. But right now I am waiting on a member who is currently trying to make molds of the amber piece in the housing, he may be able to make a clear/frosted replacement. If so, I plan to get some from him so I can have those with switchbacks installed into my front blinker. My blinkers in front are my only non-LED lights (besides my HID headlights) on the truck right now. I can't wait to have all LED. I just don't like Halogens. Old technology in my mind

I just wasn't sure if you had to change out a relay due to the hyper blink or not.

I just have my front blinkers left and my tail lights. Just curious about the hyperflash.

You will not need to change out a harness or relay. But you will need to add w resistor to the wires if you plan to go with anything other than the VLED triton V3. The V3 has a built in resistor.

The LEDs will draw less power causing the hyper blink which this truck will do if s resistor is not added.

Thanks Mike 1220!

All I have are the VLEDs. I love them. So is the same for the tail lights? Just plug in play? I need to order some white ones for my wife's new Yukon for the reverse anyway.

Yes resistors will be needed anywhere (this is only for lights that would be on with the running lights so this excludes things like the reverse lights, cargo lights, and the 3rd brake light) that LEDs are used in a place that halogens were OEM. The resistor will trick the computer to think a halogen is still installed and so no hyperlink will occur.

Just thought I'd share this for some opinions, I just found a pretty nice photoshop app (just one more thing I needed along with this forum to help my mod list grow right? Haha). Well I was able to make my headlights cleared with photoshop, what do you think?

That's freakin sick. I want to do that! That's way beyond my skill. I would need to have a test set first.

So just to clarify, I would need a resistor, unless I used Vled triton V3's correct.

I have a set of resistors when I was trying to do my f150 before.

But you can't beat the Vleds, even at their rigid light prices... Lol

I believe that there is no resistor needed. To the best of my knowledge none is needed as the ballast for he bulb replaces/works as the resistor. But there is a chance I am wrong! I will email VLEDs to make sure. And oh I have no intentions of doing his job myself, at least not at this point in time. I found a local shop but they said they won't be able to touch my headlights for at least 2 months as they are trying to move into a new shop and they have plenty of other orders right now. I told the guy I don't need it right now so he said he'd let me know if they get any kind of free time that I could hopefully drop my headlights off during. He also said that they have stopped doing custom headlights for the time being and possibly for good since they are so busy but he said that if I want, he would still do mine since I was talking to him about it before the decision was made to stop

I may even end up sending my lights to fastheadlights around Christmas if the other member is able to get the cleared pieces by then. (Still don't want to give out his name until he tells me he either has made them or they can be made.

I did this mod a few weeks ago. I have the regular VLED bulbs in there and can confirm that you definitely will need a few resistors. I found that taking the bumper off was a necessary because the VLED bulbs were a lot longer than stock bulbs and I just could not get them to sit correctly in the socket. I'm sure it could be done without taking the bumper off but it only took me a few minutes to take off and made things a lot more accessible.

One thing I'll mention is that the bulb has to seated correctly. I thought I had received a defective bulb when it did not turn on. If this happen to you, just turn the bulb 180 degrees. For some reason, if you have it seated wrong and hit the turn signal, the stock LED strip will blink.

It seems to be a lot of work. Hope you don't have to change them regularly.

They're aftermarket parts.....of course you have to change them regularly. That's the fun part.

I may go the easy way, V3 Tritons. Hell of a lot more, but not as big as a PIA!

Thanks!
